Reviews for La Chinita Poblana in Indianapolis, IN
Finding good tacos in Indy has been a challenge so I really really wanted to love this place. I ordered the Korean BBQ, braised... pork carnitas, and the shrimp tacos, and paired it with the 5 spice pork quesadillas. The quesadilla was pretty good but thetacos were another story. The tacos make for nice pictures but they failed to live up to the hype. Bonus points for creativeingredients and looking pretty I guess, but the meats are definitely underwhelming. The meat is the essence of a taco. Itdoesn't matter if you're going for the traditional flavors or the fusion route like this place, it's the most importantcomponent. Without it, it's just a tortilla. I felt like my inner child unwrapped a Christmas present to discover a pair of knitsocks. That's what eating these tacos felt like. No amount of fancy wrapping paper can change the pending disappointment. Thecool hip ingredients don't help if the taco meat tastes like it was microwaved from a can. Another analogy is like puttingketchup on dough and pouring nacho sauce to make "cheese pizza". It just doesn't work The tacos don't taste horrible butmanagement takes themselves seriously enough to charge $4 per taco. They deserve a reality check, and people should be warned totemper their expectations. Read more
You know how you read those reviews that are like ?would give it negative stars? ? Well, I get it now. Korean BBQ taco was... absolutely awful. No flavor and the tortilla was just not good. The beef tongue taco was also not a hit. Reallyunfortunate. Service was also not the friendliest. The woman working was MUCH MORE interested in checking her phone. Read more
Had a couple tacos and a passion fruit margarita here and wow they were so good!
When the best part of the meal is the watermelon flavored drink beverage , that isn't great for the entree couldn't hold its own... which was a braised shredded pork taco. There was a bit of chopped blended cilantro/parsley (who likes to eat parsley as mightwas well be chewing kale yuck) with a red sauce. It was probably the red sauce that made the tacos sprint not walk south, maybeif there os a next time get some other sauce like the korean bbq sauce. Almost rated 2 stars but the benefit of the doubtrounded up to 3 stars due to the flavored beverage. Meh. Read more
Unique taco flavors served in a street food manner. Pictured from left to right are the Red Braised Pork Carnitas, Korean BBQ... Steak, and Salt n Pepper Crispy Shrimp. Great flavors and a good selection of meats and veggie options. Read more
The tacos here were decently good, but they?re a little pricey at around $4 per. I wouldn?t recommend the chips/guac, the chips... tasted unseasoned and the guac was bland. Read more
Visited 2/20/21 Tacos is everyone?s favorite but when you have rude staff (cashier pictured) then the taste is ruined. We walk... up to order and ask a question about something mentioned on the menu. Not knowing what it was, the man responds ?i don?tunderstand you question. It?s not a meal it?s an ingredient? How rude, they have a jar on the counter which reads ?even thetitanic tipped?, this is so insensitive to those who perished on the titanic. To joke about it is awful. We ordered the Quesoand chips. The queso is super spicy... so spicy we didn?t eat it. This place also doesn?t accept Apple Pay. We wouldn?t visitthis place again ever and you shouldn?t either. Read more
I really wanted to like this place, the cashier was very nice and had great service, however the portions of protein in the... tacos really didn?t give us the opportunity to taste greatness..We ordered a variety to sample from and all of them lacked inportions of portion for an appropriate review! The price also didn?t match the amount of food we received, and when we tried toreport to the cook she refused to accept our reports on the food and refused to replace.. So the two stars are for the cashieronly!!! Read more
