I'm a truck driving man and was happy to see the BBQ next to the pilot same ole sludge. I was welcomed promptly by the... aromatherapy and staff. The menu was filled with favorites so I settled on the 2 meat 2 sides. There was plenty of good sniffsin this platter. Tender beef brisket and shredded smoked pork needed no sauce hot and delicious as served. Complimented by tatorsalad and savory baked beans, onions,pickles and Texas sliced bread turned this platter into a picture perfect picnic. Read more
Mr Bill and I love Mr Hamburger, 1836 Steak House, and La Mision restaurants in H?ville TX, so it was natural to try the sibling... of all those eating establishments: Walls Pecan Smoked BBQ. North of H?ville off Exit 118 on Interstate 45, it?s a good sizedeating place that also delivers and has a good take away business. Tucked in a travel center, it may be easy to overlook. But DOtry it. Decent portions, decent prices, good brisket, pinto beans, terrific fried okra, awesome loaded Mac and cheese. Food isserved on disposable plates and utensils which is common in H?ville. Check out the photos of the menu - robust offerings. ILOVE that the place is dedicated to the TDCJ workers to whom they extend a 10% discount. There?s a large dedication poster inthe restaurant attesting to their respect for the workers in our prisons?.tough and not always thanked. To the reviewer who didnot eat there but were quick to judge motives behind the name, shame on you for totally misleading potential customers withincorrect opinions! The walls pay homage to the workers as well as the events they hold for inmates. Historic photos reminddiners inmates are people who also enjoy entertainment, riding in a rodeo, and cheering others to victory. Also adorning thewalls are many fine specimens of animals who?ve been expertly preserved by a local taxidermist. While prisons and huntingspecimens may not be everyone?s preference, the tale of H?ville history is displayed and preserved inside the establishment muchas a museum would do. We ran into someone at the truck stop who recommended this place and I?m so glad we stopped in! The menu had pulled pork nachos,... but I asked if I could have brisket instead. Absolutely delicious! I couldn?t even finish it all. The crew working tonight werebeyond pleasant. These boys really had it together to be working without a supervisor and I loved their customer service. Ididn?t get any names, but the young curly headed guy was superb and his authentic mannerisms were greatly appreciated. Read more
The wings and Mac and cheese were great the Buffalo sauce had great flavor. Now the banana pudding, it did not taste like banana... pudding at all. I?ve also had the brisket fries!! Definitely try the food not the dessert. Read more
Great place to eat! Moist lean bbq is hard to find and this place has it! Very generous portions! Meat is lean and moist. I had... the pinto beans and potato salad. Both are a great complement to the brisket. Beans have pieces of meat added to them. If yourpassing through Huntsville during eating hours I suggest stopping in for a meal! Read more
The first time we visited Walls, it was an accident. We'd pulled off 45 for gas, and chose the hole in the wall bbq joint... instead of the chain chicken place next door. Our return visits have NOT been accidents. Next to what we create at home, this isthe best BBQ we've encountered anywhere, let alone in Texas. Should mention that we are self-admitted BBQ snobs.
