I decided to go here for date night. Honestly I was not impressed. I was annoyed that we had to wait 10 minutes before our... waitress came to take our drink order. I know people are busy sometimes but It would have been fine if he would have at leastacknowledged us at the table especially since he walked right by at least 6 times. I ordered the prime rib with a loaded bakedpotato. My date ordered a pork chop with a loaded baked potato as well. Coming from someone who loves pork she said it wasn’tall that great and towards the middle it wasn’t all that cooked. We shared the Mac and cheese which is supposedly popular. This is a modern restaurant but inside has the feel and service of a classic steak joint that's been around for years. They... have a strong menu of steak and seafood options. Michael, our server, was attentive and knowledgeable to all of our needs. We had ribeye, New York strip, and scallops all... prepared perfectly as ordered. Phenomenal steak house in the Huntsville area! We were sat right away at a high top on a Wednesday evening. They have window... treatments that come down to the top of the stool so you don’t burn up in the summer heat. Your waist and below gets a littleof the heat wrath. Our server, I think her name was Sierra (sorry if I butchered the spelling), was absolutely a doll. She wasthe sweetest, attentive, and put up with my Uncles jokes. Lol. Drinks came quickly. They have the large square block ice foryour whiskey on ice! We both had the prime rib, which was absolutely delicious- it comes with a loaded baked potato. We orderedone vegetable side, which is perfect for two people to share. You can add a salad for a an up charge - the wedge looked reallygood, but knew it would be too much food. We had an amazing experience enjoying an excellent Bloody Mary with Pork Rinds with the best melted White Cheddar Gruyere... dipping sauce for starters. I had delicious Creole Saute ordered from the Brunch Menu because it was a Sunday between 11 AM and2 PM. Did I mention that there was a really excellent jazz trio playing while we enjoyed our food and drinks? If you’re in Huntsville - Char is a must have. My coworkers and I came from out of town and loved every minute of this meal.... We got here for happy hour drinks - what a bargain. The strawberry wine was phenomenal - I had two! We also got the popcorn app- tasty and great to share. For dinner I had the steak frites and it’s A great deal with lots of food. We’ve been looking forward to eating at Char for my fiancés birthday all week but were sadly disappointed afterward. As a... self proclaimed “elevated steakhouse” I would definitely expect they know how to properly cook a steak and that was just notthe case. All 3 steaks that we received at our table were over cooked to the point it was difficult to eat. Not to mention ittook over an hour to receive our food after we ordered. While we were waiting to pay our check, the restaurant turned all thehouse lights up almost like we were at a sleazy bar telling us to get out. Mind you, our reservation was at 9pm and it took over2 hours to order, receive our food and eat it. There were several other parties in the restaurant, most having been seated afterus. This was very off-putting and not something I expect from a restaurant at this price point no matter what time it is. Theonly saving grace for Char is their cocktails. They had a great selection and were very good. The fries crab claws were alsovery good. As far as the service, it was pretty good in the beginning and went downhill quickly with our waiter disappearing forlong periods of time and having to request multiple times for certain things.
