I love Treebeards! I would always go during lunch when they had the downtown locations. Food is amazing and I had been craving... their baked chicken, so I went on a weekend for lunch. I sat at the bar and ordered one of their special drinks I think it was aBlue Hawaiian. It was awesome!! Read more

So yum! I love Cajun food and so glad I found you-treebeards. I missed the one in downtown but no worries this is more than... worth the drive. Everything I had here is great! May I suggest Fried green tomato! it?s the perfect cornmeal-gritty-crunchmeets the tender-with-a-hint-of-tartness green tomato. Whatever the seasoning is in that cornmeal? I wish I could have a crunchycake with it?So tasty. Gumbo is nicely loaded with a variety of seafood. although I am not an Okra fan, I am good with the okrabites in the gumbo as they did not come across slimy :). Red bean and rice is so perfectly cooked, tender flavorful beans withnicely seasoned sausage- not salty! (Which does not happen often). Jalapeño Cornbread can use a little more jalapeños but Ihave to say it is yum: crumbly, tasty, filled with corn kernels - just the way I enjoy that little stick on your teeth cornbites. Happy eating Read more

I've been going to Treebeard's for over 20 years. It's always the highest quality and very consistent. That's probably because... they have mostly the same staff probably not since 1976 when they first opened but maybe their kids... I do miss some items, like the Duck Gumbo on Mondays, from the old location downtown but all of the menu items are the same recipes. If you sit atthe bar you can actually get all of your food in courses, like a typical type of restaurant, instead of waiting on line andhaving them bring it to you, which I prefer. The owners are awesome! Read more

All around friendly team. Super clean. Great layout! Patio area is nice. Love the design and flow of the inside. ... Comfortable. 1st time at this location. I've gone to their original location since I was a kid. My dad is big fan of their Redbeans and rice. Today was our first time at this location. The food was good today. Not great. Chicken fried steak is sopromising, but was a bit soggy and lacked full crispness all around. Collards were very good. Cornbread had dried out toomuch. Enjoyed the red beans and rice. We're going to come back again. They were pretty busy during a rainy day Tuesday. Great staff. Read more

Let me give some background before the actual review. An oil & gas company I used to work for ordered Treebeards at least once a... month for investor meetings, employee engagements, board meetings, etc. It was something we all looked forward to as Treebeardswas such a favorite caterer of ours. I have probably had their gumbo well over 40 times during my 3 years with the company. Thesetup was amazing, the consistency of the food was spot on and everyone raved about the quality. Since leaving the company, anew Treebeards location came to my area of town. I was so excited to visit. We waited for a cold day, so the gumbo would warm usup. Now, on to the review. Our visit did not add up to the standards I talked it up over all this time. Upon entering the KatyFreeway location, I was surprised to see it was a walkup and order type establishment. It's understandable I did not know thisas my experience with Treebeards was always a catered event. Not a big deal; was still excited about the warm goodness we wereabout to encounter. We paid and were asked to select a tip amount on the screen. I chose 20%, as I usually tip, but it made meupset after our dining experience was subpar. You seat yourself, get your own drinks, napkins, silverware, refills, condiments, etc., so tell me again what I am tipping on if I do all this myself. Again, not a huge deal, because I was waiting on the gumbogoodness about to come out of the kitchen. The server brings our food and I notice I forgot to get a spoon. He literally told me(in a very non busy restaurant) that the spoons were next to the soda machine. Customer service at its best would have been forHIM to get one for me. AGAIN, not an extremely huge deal because I was certain the gumbo was going to melt my frustrations away.Meh, I was wrong. The roux was unusually thick and had a slight burnt taste. The green beans were okay but needed more flavor inmy opinion. It was not what I was expecting nor what I was used to in ALL my 40+ Read more
