I used to like this place, but their kitchen and customer service is an epic failure. The staff was just sitting there bsing... (gossip, laughing, etc) I had to get up and say something so things could be done. Why is it that it took so long to get aquesadilla and three tacos? It was Not even busy and everyone around us received their food. My mother only had two males andshe was already done by the time we got our food. The waitress disappeared and didn?t even check on us. Not even a discount (not that I wanted one , but just the acknowledgment) at least fake something. I only paid for my drink and mothers tamales andleft upset. I will Not come back during these peoples shift because they are pathetic. I'm 59 years old and love food - especially Mexican. This is the best Mexican food I have ever had at a restaurant. On top of... that, the portions are large and the prices are great. The staff was so nice and helpful. The jalapeno salsa was amazing! Itook home a 32oz jar of it and put it on everything I can. We don't get to Houston that often, but from this point on, everytime we go, we are going to eat here at least once. If it's up to me, it will be at least once per day!! Read more
Place was dirty, table was dirty, service was slow. Waitress got one of the entrees wrong. We just ate it. I ordered the 3... crispy taco dinner. Nasty, nasty, nasty, and that is putting nicely. The tortilla shells were, so stale, I could not chew them.I dumped the meat onto my rice and ate it that way. The meat was salty, so the rice evened out the flavor. As I usually do, Itipped 20% to the waitress, but being a former waiter, I must admit she absolutely did not deserve. This restaurant ranks upthere with the worst restaurant I have ever ate at. I went on a Friday night, surprised not too many customers, which I thought was great due to it being the start of the weekend.... I have been here a total of 3 times. The first time was after a funeral service which honestly was a good experience. Thewaitresses attended all of us well and in a timely manner, always checked on us and the family to see if we needed anything. Wehad a party of close to 25-30 people, I believe the service was good due to the amount of money that was spent. Fast forward tothe current visit. We sat in the patio, it was just 2 of us, upon seating us I asked our waiter if the music could be lowereddue to it being extremely loud, and the music was vulgar. The music was offensive and with foul language. His response to myrequest was that it was one volume, they just could not lower it. So moving forward, I ordered a large shrimp cocktail and aglass of water. My friend ordered Guisado with rice, beans and tortillas, with an horchata drink. I am going to give my honestopinion of this restaurant, and I am not bashing them, this is solely based on my experience. My shrimp cocktail was not good atall, the shrimp was chewy, which was not fresh, I was never brought or offered any condiments, nor were we checked on to see ifwe ever needed anything. My friend's dish was easy on the eyes, it looked delicious but I noticed he was not eating the rice norbeans. When I asked why, he stated that the rice was hard (under cooked), and the beans were bland. Our waiter never at any timechecked on us. I noticed he was inside with customers that were sitting by the window, who were ordering drinks and beer. Inoticed he was just glancing at us from time to time but NEVER came outside to check on us. Regardless if we drink alcohol ornot we should be treated with respect. It seems like the major issue with this place is that it has bad management. None of the team members were working together and... our waiter was the one person working the entire floor. That?s wild for a Friday night. Seems like all The issues woulddisappear if they had leaders. I feel It?s hard to blame individuals workers for these kinds of problems. The red salsa and chips and the guacamole are amazing ???? I also enjoyed the cheese enchilada...the rest of the food was okay... and the enchilada Verde needed salt and more something. We did go late and the waitress was super kind and the food came quickbut then everyone kind of disappeared no service and we had to find someone to get the check. We are long time patrons of Tepatitlan Restraunts. I'm talking about 20+ years. We eat there at least 4 times a month but... No... More!
