They just to be good with tamales back then , but now the food / tamales are not the same as before . Today I order quesabirria ... because they don?t have the tamales , it took a little bit to get my order. The consomé was cold , the quesadilla didn?t haveany meat at all was only tortilla and some cheese. My friend order a combo #3 and they forgot to put the order , he had to wait30min to get his food . I came here based on a friends recommendation and the place did not disappoint. I ordered a combo plate which included a tamale,... a fried taco refutes beans and rice (I think). The tamale was made with pork and was fantastic. I?d definitely come back here.Keep up the good work! Read more

I was buying their tamales for years. Then a couple of weeks ago I decided to buy some and they have changed!!! Yes they are... bigger but not better. The masa is very dry and bland. AND THEY CHARGE $43 for a dozen tamales!!!! THATS INSANE!!! We live inHouston where there are many places that have good tamales. I have not paid no where near that for a dozen tamales. DON?T WASTEYOUR MONEY. BIGGER DOES NOT MEAN BETTER!!! Read more

The service wasn't too bad; a bit slow, but there are only 2-3 people working in the whole place. I've only had the tamales, and... have tried most of them. They were, disappointingly underwhelming; not much filling, not much flavor. Read more

I like to visit certain places a few times before reviewing them to make sure service and food is consistent. I also pre-judge... the food by how busy a restaurant is. As the name indicates, the best menu item is the tamales. The selection and sizing isgreat. The only downside is the damn near $3 tamales are mostly cornbread w/very little filling. Ive tasted the chicken, mole, and beef. The flavor and seasoning hasn't been consistent throughout my 3 visits. Now they have an updated menu but it seems thefood got more bland with each visit. In summary: 1. This place is always empty. You never have to worry about a line here. Ifrequent the UPS next door which always has a line, lol. But, at Tamales you may see one or two filled tables at most. 2. Asstated in another review, the food is definitely overpriced for the taste and quality. Great Mexican food isn't hard to find inTexas...you just won't find it at this Tamales. 3. Bland. Bland. Bland. I think this place has a no-sodium policy because theonly thing that has any flavor is the rice. Read more

Just checked this Tamales restaurant out because there are good and bad reviews. Here is my review: This is the worst Tamale... restaurant in HOUSTON. Shouldn't a Strictly Tamale restaurant focus on preparing the best, Well not this restaurant. Thisrestaurant wants people to eat no flavored, no meat, Masa Tamales because there was no meat and it was nothing but Masa with noflavor. Please everyone do not go here unless you want to try it yourself, but i bet you will not return. Read more
