Reviews for Kau Ba in Houston, TX
Great ambiance and decor. Our hostess was friendly and helpful. We initially had dinner reservations for "indoor," but we opted... to sit outdoors. They have a really nice outdoor patio with ceiling fans. We loved the atmosphere! We wanted Vietnamese foodand thought let's try it with a twist! Why not Vietnamese-Cajun? *Snails-It was good, creative blend of flavors. *Shaking Beef-the beef was marinated well. Good flavoring but the meat wasn't very tender. *Homemade dumplings- tasty, they were good but gotsoggy pretty quick. They were sitting in too much sauce when they served it. *Banh bot chien-loved the flavoring and thetexture. I would definitely return to try other menu options. Their bar looked impressive. I'll add that to my list for anotherday. Read more
The place Kay Ba was awesome. My husband and friends picked this place on Google maps to have a quick birthday... brunch. Atmosphere in the Kai Ba was cute, interior was very cozy and stylish. I also very enjoyed the wine glassware, verypleasant thin and light glass. Thanks to our server Ross, he was very hospitable and nice. He recommended Vietnamese brunchsandwiches, that everyone liked. As for me the protein is a little bit to smoky, so I couldn’t taste the actual flavor ofbrisket in the sandwich. However, I liked the place, I’m sure the other food is delicious Thank you Read more

I brought my mom here for a mother's day dinner, we started with the Shrimp Spring Rolls, cocktails - they do have a full bar... and had amazing mezcal cocktails, the Chicken Sizzle, and Chef's Fried Rice with brisket, and ended with an amazing dessert andcoffee!! The service was great and did not end there! Our car died in the parking lot, the owner helped us push it into a spotand was so kind to let us leave it overnight for the tow service to pick it up the next day! While we were waiting during theevening, we spent the time at the bar with the extremely nice bartenders and their restrooms are clean! Overall a top notch spotand would return without a doubt. We visited as a small group of colleagues, eager to experience a taste of Chef Nikki’s fusion of Vietnamese & Cajun cuisines.... The restaurant has a great vibe, tucked down an unassuming side street, with good indoor and outdoor space. The staff werefriendly and informative which was great. The food was very good, full of flavor, and the menu had a wide range of food anddrink so choose from, but not too extensive which is a good balance. We enjoyed the experience, but felt it just didn’t quitehave the energy we’ve had from some of Chef Nikki’s other establishments - would still recommend a visit though, as it’svery reasonably priced! Struggling with how to rate this restaurant. Honestly we had a delicious meal. My duck salad was such a unique and tasty flavor... profile I'm still thinking about. The servers were delightful and the patio was a lovely place to spend an evening. My husbandhad two beers from the fun mugs you see in the picture of the dumplings. And then at the end of our meal, we turned over the mugto see where it came from to see the warning you see in the last picture. I like my husband, so minus one star for *maybe*poisoning him? We did mention it to our server, who was aware and told us that the managers told her it would only be a problemif he had been served something hot. Still, seems like maybe you should get new mugs? You know, for appearances at least?Husband still alive 15 hours later, and seemingly no worse for the wear. Read more
I would say it’s a compliment that I forgot to take pictures of the main courses. The place is cute—inside and outside both... have great vibes. The indoor area is small in size. The cocktails are very good. Huge variety and high attention put into thedrinks. If you like a kick, the mocktail, Hay Fever, is insanely good. So good that I asked if it was possible to addtequila—it was strangely “frowned upon”. Needless to say, didn’t do that (and the place lost one star). Food is verygood. Tofu is an option even though it’s not fully stated in the menu. They’re able to make some dishes vegetarian byreplacing the meat. If it wasn’t for the awkward drink encounter, I would have given 5 stars. Read more
My friend and I went here for lunch and the venue is really cute, plenty of outdoor seating. I got the fried salmon and the... brisket banh mi sandwich. The salmon was really good, the sandwich was a little dry but good. My friend got the chicken wingsand we were a little surprised that there were still chicken "hairs" on the wings. Read more
