We haven’t been here in years. Nothing has changed. Great food and great service. Staff is friendly and food was awesome. ... My wife had a baked potato with brisket and I had the “medium” size chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and fried okra. We shared a side of onion rings, which were huge. I have had chicken fried steaks from many different places. None of them hold a candle to Hickory Hollow's! It's huge, full of... flavor and very tender. This place is as Texan as it gets! In my opinion the barbecue's got to be really special in Texas to get more than three stars, if it's awful you can get less than... three stars. I think their barbecue is pretty on point. The barbecue sauce tasted good, and the green beans were good as well.I'll probably be back to try some more of their food. Read more

Good service and decent bbq at this old school spot, my family really likes it. A bit light on the sides though except the... onion rings and they are really good. We had brisket chicken ribs and sausage, all are pretty good with some sauce on them, abit dry for my taste without it. Green beans are a bit bland, fried okra is good. Overall not bad for the money. I've been coming to Hickory Hollow for years! Great lunch spot, but one of my favorite things to do is also take out. I get... their loaded baked potatoes to go, and they're still nice and hot by the time I get home. I sometimes get their amazing countryfried steak to go, and somehow it's still crunchy and hot after a 20 minute drive home. Also don't sleep on their Hot Tots!They're incredibly addicting, they have a nice kick to them and they serve it with the same awesome gravy that accompanies theircountry fried steak. It's wonderful when you can roll back time in Texas a few decades to when everybody was polite and the food at a Roadhouse was... always sublimely delicious. Hickory Hollow is one of my favorite Texas memories, great food and a wonderful atmosphere that justscreams the Texas of my youth. Had a chicken fried steak it was huge and magically delicious. But what was most memorable aboutthis particular visit was just how nice kind and polite everyone was and sometimes in a big city like Houston that gets lost.
