Reviews for Courtyard by Marriott Houston Downtown/Convention Center in Houston, TX
stay was great and we was handle with great customer service . We arrived at 330am and was able to get in a room immediately... that was a relief. However this Sunday morning at the Starbucks. They were very rude, that doesn't reflect the whole staff Read more
The hotel is nothing to write home about. Old building turned into two hotels. Room was comfortable although air conditioning... never really got that cold. April at the front desk was warm and welcoming. The pool is shared with two hotels and didn?t haveenough chairs and needed umbrellas. The pool could also use better cleaning (water was cloudy with stuff floating in it). Thebiggest draw back was the valet gate. We chose to park across the street which was half price. Each time we entered or exitedwe were forced to walk around as the gate was kept shut. Also the hotel is located on the Metro line and we work woken eachmorning at 5:45 am with a loud horn. I have no plans to revisit Houston but if I do, I will chose a different hotel. Read more
It was a huge room with lots of amenities loved having the kitchen and fridge. Windows are thin so even in the 5th floor you can... hear some noise at night. It is in a pretty building and right by the rail line. Read more
I booked this hotel as a last minute stay in Houston for my party of 3 people. I want to preface this by saying we are Marriott... Club Members, we choose to stay in Marriott Hotels most of the time anyway- this was just the cheapest option for such shortnotice. I was not really looking for anything special, and I would describe this hotel as just that. The building that the hotelis in actually hosts 3 hotels: SpringHill Suites, Courtyard, and Residence Inn. I found this a little weird to offer threedifferent rates but all the same amenities. AMENITIES- there actually weren't that many! We enjoyed the location due to the easeof getting around, the pool was nice and we had it to ourselves for most of the trip, and the rooms were average (I can echoeveryone's complaints about the towels... a lot of the towels were received were scratchy and riddled with holes). I wasdisappointed with the parking situation @ $42 a night for valet being your only option. We actually reserved parking at theclosest parkin garage for 3 nights which was $60 total which was a pleasant experience. The only thing about that was that therewas no walking access to get to Main Street from the front of the hotel. There is an automated car gate but no indication forfoot traffic. That became annoying really quick! At the end of the day, it's an ok hotel; nothing special. I really appreciatedthe full Starbucks just a few steps from the front door. The desk staff was nice enough. It's ideal for a quick trip! Read more
Good location right along Houston?s Main Street and a block away from premier restaurants like Morton, River Palm steakhouse,... and House of Blues. There is also a Starbucks on the first level. Rooms are not huge but we?ll furnished and comfortable forbusiness travelers Read more
I've stayed at plenty of Marriott locations, especially throughout Texas. I have to say this is one of the worst experiences... I've ever had, and has to be at the bottom of the list. First off with the rooms, I don't know why we were placed in ahandicapped room?!.. the towels were not to par, the bed was way to hard!, the decor was dated and stains throughout the floors, light switches that were non-functional. The outside of the hotel was even worse, I didn't expect to have to park down thestreet at a gym parking lot that charges way too much for overnight parking, I don't like to have my hand forced to pay forvalet, but at least be given a garage parking adjacent to my stay location. The last thing is the actual location itself and howsmall of a lot it sits on, very uninviting and the surrounding eyesore of the homeless community that has set up on all foursides of the hotel block, seems kinda skittish walking to said parking garage at night for anyone not street smart or feels safedoing so. Ehh...not bad for a middle of the road hotel. I should have stayed closer to the convention center, it was quite a walk. The... towels were scratchy. Nothing to write home about. Definitely some nicer places to stay. The Laura next door looked really cool! Read more
Overall I enjoyed the stay. But, the only parking the hotel has is valet parking at $45/day. The service at the hotel lobby Cafe... was great! The wake up calls were either late by 10 minutes or not at all. The hotel is located on Main at Dallas. The electrictrain runs in front of the hotel so you can easily connect with other points of interest in the downtown area. It was about a10 minute walk to the convention center. Read more
