This place is a Houston institution! Our best cafeteria featuring food just like your grandmother made! In addition to staple... items like Chicken Fried Steak and Fried Fish, they also offer daily specials like Meatloaf, Turkey and Dressing, Chicken andDumplings, and Prime Rib (Sundays) and SO much more! All of their food is made with fresh ingredients of high quality. Theydon?t over salt, which I think some people have mentioned in their reviews. I find this refreshing - as some places use toomuch salt! All their desserts are also freshly made! Ice tea is endless and refreshing. One other toss back to old schoolcafeterias, they have roving carts in the dining room that offer drink refills and condiments like lemon and butter, etc. Assome reviews mention, the price is somewhat high, but I think it?s inline with its quality and the size of the portions. Wednesday?s are country fried steak day! I haven?t had this place in so long, and the last time I went I didn?t like it as much.... This time was so much better. I got the country fried steak, squash casserole, mashed potatoes with cream gravy, and chocolatepie. I pigged out, and it was so worth it. They have so many options and varieties. Best cafeteria in the country for sure. Generous portions, freshest vegetables, desserts are to die for, home baked breads and... rolls, and wonderfully attentive staff. Good old fashioned Southern hospitality. You definitely won?t leave hungry. Maybe alittle bit pricier than your average cafeteria, but believe me the generous portions will more than make up for it! Prices are at the higher end but they serve authentic Texan food. My favorite dessert is their Italian cream cake with pecans.... Their iced tea is good too. Almost all their pies and cakes are excellent. The restaurant is clean and has a good ambiance.Portion can be better though with the price being so high. Read more
Always good. The white fish I had (I had to go ask what kind of fish it was) the cod was AMAZING tasted like no cod I've ever... had before. Last time I got turkey and dressing. This place has never disappointed me. The only problem is that as you go downthe cafeteria line you will fill up you tray there is just too many good selections of things. Read more
The service was really good. Everything moved in a fast and efficient way. You do get a lot of food for what you?re paying, I... just was not impressed. Really great place for lunch or dinner. You choose your food and pay for it. A lot of different types of salads, meats,... desserts. First time here and liked that a waitress comes around you all the time if you need Togo boxes or refills, another onecleaning. Nice crew and clean place. Tables inside and outside. Food has deteriorated and most of the current staff is not friendly (a few are very nice though). If you have questions, it is... difficult too as most of the staff doesn?t speak English. Also I love my meat but a few vegetarian options would be nice,considering it is supposed to be health and fresh focused. Positives: absolutely massive space and very clean. Lots of seatingoptions.
