Reviews for Chow Wok in Houston, TX
Great little place for fast and good tasting food. Recommend the kung pao chicken. Great customer service.
I was misled by the other reviews. This place really isn’t that good. The pork eggrolls were dry and had a funky taste. The... wonton soup was OK but there were no green onions in it and when I say OK I mean that at the highest point it could be. The ribsmust’ve been swimming in the container of sauce. They would’ve been much better if the sauce had been cooked into the meatinstead of slathered on with a paintbrush. The best I can give this is it a 2. Yuck! I had about five bites of this meal thatcost me over $10 and I had to throw it away Read more
Pineapple chicken and orange chicken were pretty good but WHAT THE FRIED RICE IS THIS? I’ve never seen any “Chinese”... restaurant just pour some soy sauce on white rice, warm it up a little and call it fried rice. Even Panda Express puts veggiesand egg in their very basic fried rice. I think I’ll steer clear of Chow Wok. Read more
Very good priced lunch special, lunch special comes with fried egg rolls, soup, fried rice or steamed rice. Best thing is the... food came out HOT! great for a cold raining day. Your americanized chinese food dishes, a bit saucy on the stir fried entree, but very tasty. Read more

Great price for the portions given. I really enjoyed the rice box for the rice and not having everything together as other... places do. Food was great! Update: went on another occasion and received different proportions compared to my initial review. Abit sad but the food was still great. Not sure why proportions was changed. Both times I went for dinner. Read more
I had high hopes for this place. Seems like all the Chinese restaurants near my home are subpar or closing all together. I still... have one ol faithful, but I’m always searching for a backup just in case. I wasn’t able to find a menu online, so I washeavily relying on the order taker. She was very helpful, patient and made recommendations. I ordered pan fried dumplings, wonton soup, sesame chicken with fried rice and a pork eggroll. The delivery guy was very nice and arrived in the time quoted. This is where the hood ended. The wonton soup was darker than any other wonton soup I’ve ever seen. It was fair. The one goodthing about it was you can choose with green onions or without. WITHOUT! Not an onion fan. I did not try the wonton its self. Iwas a little turned off by the color of the broth. The pan fried dumplings were the best item in my order. Not super flavorful, but better than the other food. The sesame chicken was terrible. The glaze had absolutely no flavor and the chicken itself hadhard pieces on the edges that I had to spit out. It was so bad, I quit after 2 pieces and tossed the rest. The fried rice washopeful looking. I like fried rice with egg, but this was a big nope! The rice was hard and under cooked. The eggroll was okay, but honestly, Jack In The Box has the best eggrolls ever! About 35 minutes after eating that small amount, my hands started toswell. I guess that’s an indication of MSG? All this to say, I was so disappointed with my order. $29.00 for the meal and mostof it went into the trash. I’m always willing to give grace and try again, but I don’t think I can stomach it. Sorry, CW. Read more
