Ordered the hot and spicy boiled shrimp and sad to say very disappointed... not spicy at all. The boiled shrimp were also over... cooked. Got the combo platter 6 shrimp 3 pieces of fish and fries. Shrimp were as thin as paper and the fish were skinny andover cooked. Fries were actually really good! Also ordered the jalapeño boudin balls and those were the best out of all thefood we ordered. First time visiting here and very likely, my last visit. (1) First thing I noticed, cashier not very people friendly. (2)... asked for my seafood to be fried soft as in not too crispy. I ordered the advertised special of whole catfish (at least that?swhat I was told) & shrimp and an order of fried oysters ????. Everything was fried hard and crispy. Was staying in town for work and usually go to another seafood restaurant. Wanted something new and found Capt. Benny's. AMAZING... SERVICE AND FOOD! Quaint little place that's part of a Houston original group of locations since 1956. The food flavor wasbetter than the other place I use to think was amazing. I'll be planning on coming back here more now! Oh and did I tell youwhen you sit inside you sit at the rail of a boat!? Visited for the first time. Food was 5 ?? but the service could use some improvement. We ordered the jalapeño boudin balls,... chicken and sausage gumbo (which was AMAZING) and the broiled catfish with crab stuffing. I also recommend the Upgrading yourbeer to a Michelada!
