The food was delicious, we had the lunch special which was a Monte Cristo sandwich. It was so good! My mother in law was... terribly hot after we hiked to the top of Lovers leap and the very kind owner gave her a t-shirt to change into so she could becomfortable while enjoying our lunch. The food was excellent but the customer service was even better. The owners were quick to handle it issue that came up with a... customer and I truly respect that because I know that that can put them in quite the position. I enjoyed a fabulous sandwich for lunch at the Iron Horse. Service was wonderfully attentive and the sandwich was delightful. It... was a panini worth a grilled chicken breast on sourdough with a tomato jam spread. Generally I choose not to eat French fries,but I chose theirs and they were exceptional. We stayed in room 201 on a Thursday, it was wonderful, comfy bed very spacious. Shower worked very good plenty of hot water!... Karen checked us in, very nice, explained and gave a brief tour of the Inn that was helpful. We ate at the restaurant around 8so they were out of the Prime rib which was disappointing, we had the fried green tomatoes for appetizer, trout and grilledchicken, Mac and cheese, green beans and baked potato. Almost forgot the peanut butter pie, yummy, Everything was delicious,our waiter Mark was wonderful. We had a wonderful anniversary. The only things I would add is a dresser, it would have been niceto put items on & a small fan, I like a fan in the room at night. Wow, 2 toots from the train at 4am was more than excitinghaha! Four stars on the inn, five stars on the restaurant. It?s an historic inn, so the sound insulation isn?t great? Our room was... above the kitchen for the restaurant and early in the morning there was a lot of banging around which we weren?t expecting - weare late sleepers so that was disappointing. The inn is awesome if you like history though, our room was really cool with aclawfoot tub, exposed brick and a lovely view of the mountains. The bed is also very comfortable! The restaurant is reallygood. The food is great and our servers were friendly and efficient. Giant burgers, delicious fresh trout, awesome chickentenders?There aren?t a lot of places to eat in town, but you should definitely not miss Iron Horse for quality and service - weate dinner here both nights we visited. I could not get over the charm of this place! Think historical beauty combined with clean, comfortable, spacious rooms and the... welcoming, relaxing environment of an inn. There was also lots of natural light, which was a surprising bonus! We loved it. Therestaurant was delicious and the inn is right next to anything you?d need. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner last evening! Dan said his grilled chicken breast dinner was cooked perfectly... and the baked potato and sugar snap peas were tasty. I ordered the shrimp scampi pasta special and loved it! It was SO good! The portions were huge but we finished every bite! The staff was attentive, checking on us to make sure everything was justright. We also stayed overnight at the inn. The accommodations were very nice. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. We ate dinner at the restaurant a few months back and it was awesome! Great food, beer selection and service, 5 stars for sure.... We decided last minute to check out the inn and as far as location, history, cleanliness and staff, all was 4-5 stars. Just anote that it is noisy, and why wouldn?t it be when centrally located downtown, but we had a room closest to the street & I heardloud trucks throughout the night. This may not be the case with other rooms. Also with it being older the room temperature can?tbe controlled like a more modern place and it was pretty warm to us. Just things to keep in mind for any lighter sleepers!Otherwise it was a nice experience. Read more
