I heard this place had the best steak burgers in town. So I had to stop by. I ended up ordering the 16 oz hamburger steak... (which was the largest-Go BIG or go home) with fries, a peach and apple pie. Unbeknownst to me, the burger did not comeassembled (I think it was because I requested no gravy and onions.) It came with two pieces of Texas toast on the side. I wouldhave ordered an additional piece of toast considering the size of the burger patty. The burger was flavorful, the Texas toastwas toasted to perfection, and the peach pie filling was ok (it taste better with ice cream). The apple pie is way better. Thecrust of the pies are uniquely buttery. Which I liked. Service was great and food was made to order with only a 10-13 minutewait. I would definitely eat here again. Read more

In Hoover/Birmingham for work and a coworker from the area took us to Archie's. The barbecue pork was incredibly flavorful and... had a delicious, tangy sauce that will be in my dreams for forever and a day. The staff welcomed us with smiles and patience asI geeked out on the brick oven and authentic, aged diner vibe straight out of a Food Network show. I ordered a plate of porkbarbecue with choice of baked beans and a sweet and sour cole slaw. On advice from my coworker, I got the pork sliced (insteadof chopped) with half of it inside meat and half the burnt ends. It was a meal that my taste buds will remember for decades tocome. Archie's is just as good as it was when it was Golden Rule. Basically, the same menu and same quality. Servers typically are... full of Southern charm and the food comes out fast. The portions are decent size, and I don't ever recall leaving there stillhungry. No ribs, but the pork is always delicious. Definitely recommend getting outside meat so you can get the good smokyflavor of the pork. Side selections are somewhat limited but if you're okay with French fries, baked beans, or chips, you'll begood to go. Read more

Tasty meal and the kindest staff. Our waitress Laurie was extremely warm and kind, making all guests immediately feel at home. I... thought I had forgotten my phone on the premises and the manager I spoke with went above and beyond to try to help me despitebeing busy. Would 100% recommend. Read more

I ordered take out. When I got to our house we discover that our order was wrong. They forgot our fries. I called and they said... we'd have to come back to get the fries. I requested that they redo our food, because everything was already cold. They saidthey would not redo our order, just the fries. I drove back, handed them the cold food, and got our $31 back!!! My wife and Ihave been going to Archie's every week or two for about a year and we've never had an issue like this. The lady on the phone andat the check out counter were just plain old RUDE!!! It looks like we've got to find us a new BBQ & Burger joint Read more

This place is awesome! We?re from out of town and ate here on our way to Florida. It was so great that when we left Florida to... drive home, the first address we set in our GPS was ?Archie?s?!!! The hamburgers are fresh, made to order, the fries areperfectly crisp and salted just right, the sweet tea is delicious, and absolutely do not leave without sharing a hand pie andscoop of ice cream with your friends. They are to die for! The staff are super friendly and everyone helps everyone- it willprobably be packed when you visit. Believe me, if we lived in town, we?d be here every week! Read more

Not impressed. BBQ sandwich was rather fatty but that wasn't the real issue. No, the real problem here is the BBQ sauce was not... at all to my likely. It tasted like ketchup with some hot sauce. No smoke, no developed flavor, just fatty chewy pork with spicyketchup. Previously frozen crinkle cut french fries for $3 and an $8 pork sandwich. Nope not worth it. Read more

What a great place for lunch! While shopping in Birmingham, we stopped at Archie's for lunch. A popular place for their burgers... (and I personally concur), they also make great bar-b-que. We were greeted and served with a friendly staff and service wasgreat. We will definitely stop in again soon because we were too full to try the homemade fried pies ????
