This was a great experience, the menu offers many choices. Going to Kobe Sushi was one of the best events of my holiday. Staff... was courteous and pleasant, it seemed like they were a good team. SO many delicious choices, take your time enjoy a beverageand let your pallette tell you the rest. The food at Kobe Hood River is 5 star on everything. Just close your eyes and point at the menu and you will be happy. It's... all great. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience is 2 to 3 star. Our table was sticky. The server didn't know if theyhad any wine available (they do). But the white wine was room temperature, not chilled. The service was super slow (20 minutesto be greeted). I would get takeout any time, and frequently because the food is so great. However, it might be a whilebefore I go back for in-person meals. I am constantly disappointed with the service at Kobe. I?m not sure how they manage to stay in business. The sushi used to be... pretty good, but every time I have to deal with the staff I am reminded why I don?t eat there and the sushi has gone down inquality. I will not dine in. My latest attempt was for take away. Consistently when I have tried to use the online order, therehave been problems and the order usually isn?t accepted and I have to call. When I called this time, I was told the onlinesystem is not working but I could order on the phone, but the website defaulted back to the waiting page whenever I tried tobring up the menu. I told the lady on the phone I would call back as soon as I got the menu to load again and called back 2minutes later. I could not get through for another 5-10 minutes. When I finally got through I was told I could not put an orderin as the kitchen was closing even though it was still 30 minutes before the restaurant was supposed to close. I am done withthe establishment and will actively discourage anyone that ask from going there. Read more
I had been to the competition across the highway several times before trying here. The vibes are not quite as trendy -- more... like conventional sushi places we've all been to -- but the service here was attentive, and the sushi outstanding (and that'sreally all I care about). Such an appealing place, inside and out. My family were intrigued by this restaurant just as we were passing by at Hood River,... and decided to have our "linner" here. Fortunately, we came at a non-busy time and didn't need a reservation for our party ofsix, which is the typical rule for the place during busier hours. The inside was very clean and quite classy, with a good viewoutside of the river. Our food came pretty quickly, and everything that we ordered tasted wonderful and fresh. The calamariappetizers were so tender and crunchy at the same time, well-cooked. They have pretty good unagi and udon soup, that I wouldalso recommend. Service was excellent! Our waitress was super friendly and checked up on us a lot, making sure to bring usanything we asked for or needed. My dad even made a huge mess of spilling soup on the floor, and the staff were still very kindto us regardless of all of that. It's a bit out of the way from where I live or regularly visit, but if I ever come back to thearea, I'd definitely want to eat here or any of the other Kobe locations. Read more
I never would have thought Hood River would have great sushi, color me surprised. The sunshine roll and sweet potato tempura... roll are my new favorites! Not to mention the garlic edamame. So good we came here two nights in a row and plan on hitting itfor lunch on the way out of town. I guarantee I'll be making the 45 minute drive from Gresham so my husband can eat here too.Great food, great service, and great atmosphere. I highly recommend stopping here if you have the chance.
