Reviews for The Manitou in Honor, MI
Amazing. Stopped here on the way to camping at Sleeping Bear Dunes and we had our dog with us. They generously allowed us to eat... on the front deck. It was pretty cold out so they set us up next to a beautiful campfire and the wonderful owner checked on usregularly to make sure we were happy. The food was fantastic, too! Lovely experience that we will always remember. Read more
WOW! Wonderful experience & dinner as our last night in the Dunes area! Suggestion for reservations as they are very busy at... the dinner hours. Great seafood and service! Read more
Great local restaurant- and don't let the smallish looking exterior fool you, there is plenty of room inside and in the summer,... outdoor seating. The food for my family of six was delicious and the staff was great even though it was very busy when we werethere. The parking situation is terrible though, they really need to add many parking spots so you don't have to park along thestreet. Other than that, it's a wonderful place. Read more
Got lucky and scored a reservation for the next day, when we tried to just show up for dinner. Just so happened I ate there on... their busiest day ever! Wait staff is pleasant and helpful, kitchen is gifted, even if they can get emotional. (We heard rumorsof their exasperation with the relentless pace of a busy day/night.) Overall it was really excellent food. Two of us had theduck and it was some of the best I've ever had, juicy, crispy, flavorful. I subtracted one point only for the outdoor diningexperience. It needs to be more bug-resistant, maybe a netted tent? A meal here is a must if you are in this area of Michigan.Highly Recommended! Read more

Located in the middle of basically nowhere. Make sure you make a reservation. The atmosphere is woodsy! I'm pretty sure the... converted an old wood cabin/house into the restaurant! The eating area is very compartmized like house were in the past. Thereis wood everywhere, but it works here creating a warm if dark atmosphere! Lots of older knick knacks on the wall. I ordered theM-22 Grill (Market ($28)). A Sirloin Steak marinated in a sweet and savory sauce. I ordered mine medium with Potatoes au Gratinand a Garden Salad. When I sat down the put a bowl down with some slices of cucumber, celery, radish, and carrots with bluecheese dressing. I normally don't care much for these, however maybe it was the blue cheese but I really enjoyed them. The steakcame thinly sliced. It was very tender and excellently tasty! For an affordable steak it was top notch. The salad was excellenttoo. The Au Gratin potatoes were very good, complex potatoes. There was bread too, that was only okay. A little too hard. Iprefer very soft bread! The service was good considering they were getting slammed. One small mistake with the salad dressing, but no big deal. Overall a 5 star review. Would I return? Absolutely! Lastly their parking lot is way too small. People haveto park along country highway M22. That seems very dangerous when there's so much land around it. Read more
After 16 years of marriage, my wife and I finally found The Manitou! My wife ordered the Duck. She said it was the best Duck she... has had in 22 years! I had Fish and Chips. 7 huge pieces of lightly beer battered cod, fried to perfection. For the "chips", Ihad sweet potato fries. (Hidden tip, ask for the lemon/garlic aioli sauce they make in house to dip the fries in.) Hands downthe best sweet potato fries I have ever had! Our waitress was super nice and helpful with everything we needed. She wasknowledgeable and quick to offer suggestions when we asked. They have outdoor seating, so bring your dog. We did! Read more
Maybe I had this built up to much in my head about how many people had told me that yellow perch was fantastic. Tonight was my... first experience and I was extremely disappointed. The breading around some of the fish pieces was so greasy and soggy and thefish just did not have much taste. The salad was fantastic. My wife got the chicken breast sandwich and said that it and herfries was fantastic. My baked potato was extremely small but tasted fine. Just another personal preference is that when youorder a baked potato with butter, sour cream and chives is that it comes to you with that on it. I received the potato withlittle packs of butter that had to be opened. Maybe 6 of them. Sour cream in a plastic cup and no chives at all. For $31 forthe fish plate I just expected better. I would try this place again. Just not the yellow perch. Read more
