The world food tour continued at Mariposa ? we took in the Monet Exhibition at the Convention Center, then went for an early... dinner. They?re still closing early (8pm) and operating with the Sunset menu, which is really the lunch menu. Interestingly,they offer a couple of wines at ridiculously good prices. We opted for the 2020 Belle Glos Balade for $37. This sells for morein the store so how could we pass this up? Being young, it needed time to open up but I sensed blackberry and plum and funny asit may sound, a taste of Coke. As the evening progressed, so did the wine. We ordered the Arancini, Asian Fried Chicken, SearedYellow Fin Tuna and the Ribeye Steak Tare. The arancini was supposed to contain unagi but all I sensed was whole grain mustardaioli (it was supposed to be nori aioli). This was the least successful dish for me. The Asian Fried Chicken was a treat ?boneless, battered chicken in a shoyu / sake sauce. The seared Yellow Fin Tuna was the star ? a yuzu sauce with a hint ofjalepeno, edamame and cut beans perfectly offset the seared fish. The ribeye was served with deep fried yellow potato wedges. Itwas supposed to come with umami butter but it appeared to be the same sauce served with the fried chicken. The beef was tenderand flavorful; the potatoes were crisp and waxy (in a good way). Dessert were an Affogato and two espresso (so three in all)and the chocolate macadamia nut tart. The richness of the ice cream and the espressos (I used all three atop the ice cream) madeit a sublime experience. The tart? I had one bite and it was luscious and rich. It was a beautiful evening; the food and winewere excellent; the service very good. All in all, an excellent experience at a surprisingly modest cost. Highly recommended,even with the limited menu. I?m not sure why the tourists complain this place, everybody have their own way/unique taste; The restaurant been there for a... very long time over 10 years. Their prices always expensive because they have beautiful views. You don?t just go there for thefood, some are very great taste ???? and some not so good ??, but overall it?s a decent menus ????, but mainly attraction it?s abeautiful view and that?s what you paying ????for. For me and my family we like their best service and it just depends how youpick the right entrées for your lunch. I love their soup ????and salad???? + their drinks???? and their complimentary Pop-Over???? bread. Lots of my friends say they like their lobster ???? sandwiches. Maybe ???? I will try next time. One of my favorite places to celebrate my birthday. I'm glad they stopped that policy of waiting for the whole table to get... there before being seated. Great server and of course the food is always top notch. Love getting the pop overs with strawberrybutter and chicken consome. I always order the lobster club and hurricane fries. I have to split the meal because it's so big toeat by myself. They cut the sandwich differently than they used to. They used to have it look like a turkey club. Mariposa is a wonderful place for a business lunch. It's a stylish, classy restaurant that doesn't forget the island vibe . The... outdoor seating allows for a gorgeous view of Ala Moana beach Park and the pretty rows of palm trees. It does get hot outside soI prefer to have indoor seating. The high ceilings make the indoor feel expansive and beautiful. Mariposa Ala Moana is famousfor 2 things ; 1. It's popovers with strawberry butter spread and 2. For it's ceiling fans/decor. Every meal starts With acomplimentary popover with strawberry butter spread as well as a warm chicken broth - they go well together. My favorite orderis the Mariposa Poke appetizer with the Roasted Beet 'Poke' Bowl (It doesn't actually come with fish) the vegetables areseasoned perfectly and go together well with the actual poke appetizer. Other delicious dishes are the hurricane seasonedfries, the ahi salad, lobster club sandwich and the smoked brisket sandwich. Read more
Delicious fresh ahi tuna salad and lobster sandwich. Complimentary popover plus strawberry butter and chicken soup was amazing... too. Lots of sunlight and good ambiance. Caring server helped serve split dishes for ease of sharing. Recommend. Read more
Had the Thursday special for lunch, the smoked brisket sandwich -- absolutely delicious. Really nice view of Ala Moana Park as... well, with plenty of ventilation. Not cheap, but sometimes ya gotta splurge and enjoy life! Read more
Good to dine in earlier today. Nice view. Great Food. The best is the service!! Our server added so much value on this meal.... Free chicken soup. Popover breads. They even ask if we want to take home some!! ???????????????????? he should be the Employeeof the Month!! Read more
