Super great service! Hand made foods that taste amazing! Super fun folksy decor. They have a really cute gift shop. Think... Cracker Barrel but cuter. Who ever is their buyer is killing it! I had their signature chopped steak. I wish I would have gottenthe hot because it was pretty tame at medium. The fire roasted cream corn was a fun twist on a classic. The breading on theirchicken fried steak was fresh and unique. I enjoyed it greatly. Will stop again! Read more
First time experience. Celebrated my anniversary. Impeccable fries mushrooms. Beautifully cooked medium rare rib eye with a... cheese enchilada covered in chili. The liver and onions were prepared exactly to my liking. You must have the Mac and cheese!Throw in a full salad bar and a very good wine and beer selection and you can't go wrong with this well run restaurant. Read more
Went by for lunch yesterday since I heard about the return of the salad bar. I was a little disappointed because they did not... have egg for the salad which is my favorite. I also had a chicken fried steak with onion rings which was good. They have reallygood sweet tea. I went back again today for lunch in hopes there was egg for the salad. Today there was egg! I had the fried catfish with mash with brown grave. Service was good. I did have to wait for hostess so I could be seated. It seems as if thehostess has too many jobs besides seating people which could be a little frustrating for customers. Over all pretty good placeto have lunch. Read more
I didn't expect to find such a great restaurant out in the middle of nowhere, Texas. It seemed like the bar area was a little... bit more modern than the rest of the restaurant. I wish the weather had been warmer because the outside area looked veryinviting. The food was excellent albeit a little pricey. We had a brand new waitress but she was still incredible. If I'm everin this area again I will stop here for a steak dinner. Read more
This was my first visit to Hermann Sons Steak House. I had driven past it many times over the years and always wondered about... it. My friends treated me to a birthday dinner near their home and I finally got to try this place. I decided to go with thesteak and enchilada plate, since I was curious about enchiladas at a steak place that clearly wasn't a Mexican restaurant. Thesteak was good, properly cooked, as was my friends, with a nice pink center, charred on the outside, juicy, and cooked perfectlike a medium rare steak should be. We both commented that the cook actually did this right, where many places don't. Theenchilada was so-so, the meat/chili sauce on it was strong with bland chili powder, the meat was lean and a little dry. Iprobably wouldn't go with enchiladas again, but the steak made up for it. Our sides changed last minute when we noticed theroasted cream corn, both my friend and I decided to get this as a side and it wasnt disappointing. It had good flavor and wasunique, the most similar thing Ive had is a Korean baked corn, and this was a cross between Mexican corn in a cup, and Koreanbaked corn. We purchased a sampler of fried mushrooms, onion rings, and zucchini, all of which were really good. The smallorder of these was enough to feed 3 people with a few pieces left over. The portion size on this was huge, and Id hate to seethe large order. Prices were fair, service was pretty good, we were there close to closing and after a large rush had just comethru. Overall the food was good, and I would consider visiting again to try a few more items. Read more
Love coming here. Have been coming here for 11 years and the food is better than it's EVER been. (Except the fries, they are... soggy I miss the crispy fries please bring them back!!). They have a new cook and this person knows what they are doing!!Saturday night was pretty packed so we try and go earlier in the day otherwise there is a wait. There was live music Sat nightin my opinion the speakers were way too loud. But yeah the BEST food in the area!! Great drinks too!! This is an icon of Hondo Texas. Place has been around since before I was born. Always delicious and packed every weekend. ... Specials every day. Drinks are cheap . The food taste like what you expect from a good steak house. Indoor and outdoor dining.It's country as home is. People are friendly and service is amazing . Food is always great...local family owned and oriented.. servers are friendly and on top of it.. Been going there for 18 years... and the remodeled facilities are 1st rate. Great for a gathering or a relaxed meal or drinks.. the pricing is a little to higherthan reasonable for similar food elsewhere. Being a small town probably the way to survive after Covid. Read more
