Reviews for Little Mermaid in Homer, AK
Absolutely beloved this place, had one of my most favorite meals ever here! It is an adorable restaurant with a cozy, at home,... atmosphere. The staff is super friendly, helpful, and attentive. The 3 of us split the Gorg salad as a starter. The salad wasdelicious. For dinner my daughter and I split the Stone Bowl. It is a huge entree loaded with different fish, meatballs, veggies, two fried eggs served over rice and homemade gojujang sauce. My husband got the catch of the day which was a hugepiece of halibut, caught earlier in the day, served over fresh veggies. For dessert we had the cheesecake made with local gooseeggs with carmel sauce over the top. We felt the price of our meal was super affordable for the quality and quantity of food. Most meals here looked to be shareable. A reservation is recommended. Read more
We were visiting from Ohio and this restaurant was recommended by 2 different locals that we met while we were here. We took... their advice and sent a text to get a reservation. Wow, the food was amazing. We shared the ?gorg? salad (greens with Gorgonzolaand balsamic vinaigrette), the fish tacos (with grilled halibut, served with their ?mermaid sauce? - whatever is in that sauce,I could drink it) and one of the specials - whole thorny headed rockfish served with pickled veggies, rice, and 2 differentsauces. Each dish was even more delicious than the last. I don?t have enough good things to say about this place. If you arelocal or visiting: eat here, you won?t regret it! The staff are all super friendly, we couldn?t resist buying a round of beersfor the kitchen. Read more

Great food and larger portions. I got the catch of the day and my husband got prawn and scallop scampi. It is a bit expensive... but service was awesome and the food tasted great. Had their wine as well and enjoyed it. It is a small and cozy atmosphere. They do have options for kiddos. My son ordered sliders with a coke. Read more
I'm from Houston which has in the past few years been recognized as a foodie town. This place could stack up against anyone.... Tiny. Unobtrusive. Sublime. I had Australian rack of lamb. It was fabulous. Great wine pairing. Small, intimate restaurant andNot fancy. But the food. Wow. Read more
This is the best meal I've had in Alaska, and one of the best I've had period. Little Mermaid is surrounded by the kitsch of the... Homer Spit, and looks the part, but this is creative fine dining that would stand out anywhere. Reservations for one of thefive booth seats are definitely recommended. A few stools and counters offer a little extra seating out by the dessert case. You can hear and smell the kitchen, giving it a fun laid back vibe. If you like oysters, go for it. A watermelon ice and roegarnish didn't overwhelm the flavor but complimented perfectly. The salads are great and large portions. The menu lists adaily catch, a chop, and a rice bowl. When we visited, the catch was halibut seared in a ceasar dressing (perfect) with perfectrice and crispy broccoli. The bowl was bibimbap with shrimp and duck eggs. Order to share because the portions are generous, making the price point actually a good value. We didn't have the pizza but its reputation is great among locals. Finally thedessert. I'm not a big sweets fan but my wife and her sister are cupcake aficionados. They picked two of the inventive flavorsand it played off. Don't skip it. Don't waste time and money on touristy money grabs; save for a perfect meal at LittleMermaid. Read more
Daily catch was out of this world on presentation, texture, taste. Would have this again every night for the rest of the season.... Hands down. Appetizer fish tacos were dry, no sauce, however the fish was so fresh. Our server recommended fried over not. Itis 1$ more, which we saw on the check. Stone bowl was hot for 30min! Tuna and prawns were unseasoned. Halibut was cooked sotender. How?!? Egg was over cooked so the yoke was not runny enough to wet the dish. Pork Tonkatsu was delicious. Veggies fullof flavor. Creme brulee was unfortunately burnt 30%. Pot de creme was flavorful, whipped cream was ok. Read more
