The food was good. We tried a lot of the southern foods that aren't served in other parts of the country (fried okra, gizzards,... etc.), and they were tasty. However, the portions were weird (a large helping of some things, but very small with others). Ourserver was impatient and unhelpful, but not really rude (on the border of rude...). The atmosphere was boring but it wasrelatively clean. It's probably the only restaurant in Holt, so you take what you can get, right? All in all, it's worth avisit, but I probably won't be back. This is a quaint little country restaurant. Blink, and you'll miss it. I know that I almost did! The inside it nothing... special...just functional. A little too dark for my likings. The staff were friendly and worked together to make sure my orderwas filled for carryout with ease and no issues. I couldn't have asked for better service. On value, you get a ton of food foryour dollar! On quality, they do cut corners a bit! The cheese grits are cheaply made. There's no way of getting around that. Icould taste the fake cheese spread used to flavor the cheap instant grits. It was deeply saddening since quality cheese gritsare very affordable and truly elevate a fish dinner. The hushpuppies were pretty good. Usually, I am not a fan of hushpuppiesbecause so many restaurants do them poorly. The hushpuppies became their saving grace. So, kudos for a good hushpuppy! Themullet were really strong. You could tell the fish had been caught near a river rather than the Gulf. A couple of hours soak insaltwater would greatly help pull out any off-putting flavors. Normally, I am not a fan of cole slaw since most places do asweet slaw rather than a traditional NW Florida dill slaw. However, their slaw, even though it was sweet, had enough acidity tocut through the richness of the meal. It really impressed me! All-in-all, I can't fault them too much. They'll give you a fairdeal with promot and courteous service. Read more

Hamburger bun was dried out and hard as was the burger itself. Entire BLT was sopping in butter, lettuce was not fresh, tomato... was super thin and the bacon was almost nonexistent. Food preparation was terrible. Waitress did the best she could with whatshe had to work with, that's the only reason I gave 2 stars. Read more

A great little local, out of the way dining experience. As soon as we walked in the door we were greeted by the most amazing... smell of food! The staff was all very friendly. Our family of 4 ordered 2 pepperoni pizzas. They were good. But there was a lotof other food on the menu I would have loved to try if we had been in the area longer. AND they have hand scooped ice cream. Adelicious dessert! Read more

Great place to stop and eat. This is a small locals diner. You won't find zipper peas, collard greens,, or baby lima beans at a... chain restaurant, but you will here. The mullet is excellent. Check out the Blue Plate Specials. The hubby likes the Shepardspie. Read more
