Really cool place to eat on the island! This place is always busy, so look to get there early. It?s all outdoors, so also make... sure you go when the weather is beautiful. While it was particularly hot when we went, there are commercial fans blowing thatkept us cool. While a bit pricey, food is fantastic here with huge portion sizes. Very busy and plan on a wait. Our server was friendly and attentive. Food quality was good and everyone enjoyed their orders.... The grouper tacos had a good amount of fish in them and the melted cheese shells were great. Outdoor seating has a good vibe.Would definitely recommend. Read more
This place is about ambiance. All outside seating with lots of fans. We went for an early lunch, but have heard they have a... great happy hour. There was a stage so I assume they have live music. They have some bar games for entertainment such as cornhole and a row a ring toss games. As for the food, their most popular dish are their tacos which are actually cheese shells inplace of corn or flour tortillas. My husband and sister both ordered them and thought they should have shared it. They both tooka taco each home for later. I was excited about ordering the grouper Ruben, but they brought me sourdough instead of rye bread,which is unfortunate, because it didn?t taste like a Ruben. But the grouper in it was well made and the French fries were good.My mom had the flounder with holla Daisy which she liked. Prices were decent. We had calamari and the giant pretzel to start then two of us had the grouper dinner and I had the grouper tacos which were a... hit! Place is adorable. Live music, outdoor seating n music with ring toss and corn hole to keep you busy while you wait toseat. Well worth the 20 min wait. Loved the food. Read more
First off our waitress Jordan was very attentive and got us everything we need! Came here on a Thursday night with the wife... after visiting family at an AirBnB down the road. I knew it would be busy from reading the reviews but our 40 minute wait wasn?tbad at all. They have a section off in the corner near the grouper statue for waiting guest/kids. You?re able to grab a drinkwhile you wait! A lot better than sitting on a bench or in the car. I saw the reviews and had to get the Grouper tacos, the wifegot the Pesto Shrimp fettuccine. The prices are a little high but it?s to be expected with the location and time of year. Butthis restaurant was where the price was worth it! The tacos were amazing, the wife kept stealing my French fries and sheactually cleaned her plate! (She never does) Great Floridian atmosphere, enough fans and canopy?s to keep you cool. The onlydownside was the metal chairs, way to laid back and very uncomfortable, thankfully there were a different set of chairs at ourtable. If I?m ever back down this way, I will be definitely stopping by for another order of those tacos. Read more
Tonight we finally tried the Ugly Grouper. We were bot disappointed. The food was amazing and worth the wait. Very busy... restaurant and the ticket time was long. But do not let that stear you away. The amount of food and quality of food is 10/10.One of the few restaurants on the island that you get a hug amount of food for the price. My daughter had the fish and chips(kids menu), my wife had the grouper Tacos (which are loaded with fish), and I had the gumbo special with the giant pretzel asan appetizer. Dave (our waiter) gave us one of the best services I have ever experienced; even with the kitchen backed up...hewas great. Read more
For such a busy time of year to park two cars, get seated in a reasonable time, that was a great start. The food was exceptional... (blackened grouper, coconut shrimp). Outdoor dining at its finest. Fabulous tropical drinks, fish tacos, salad with grilled shrimp and pulled pork... sliders...everything delicious. Adam L. was our server and he was awesome. Very efficient, friendly and helpful. There is also asmall t-shirt shop adjacent to the restaurant where you can purchase Ugly Grouper apparel, plus if you had your meal there youget a 10% discount. Plenty of parking in the low season. Don't know if that applies in high season, but it's worth the stopwhenever you go. Enjoy!! Read more
