I took a recommendation and tried this restaurant my first night in Hilton Head. Wow! I was so pleased Let's start with the... Great service! Scallops as an appetizer.. full of flavor and wonderful. My cocktail was perfectly mixed. Even the bread basketwas delicious. I was pretty full before my entree arrived. My companion had the halibut and I had the clam pasta. Both wereamazing. This restaurant takes pride in their food and service. I'm sure they've won awards because it was a memorableexperience. Bravo! Read more

After a few nights of southern food in Hilton Head, Ombra Cucina Italiana was a welcomed delight. Our kids split a plain... spaghetti and we all shared the poached pear salad, Insalata di Pera e Gorgonzola, which was great. We also tried their burrataand prosciutto appetizer special - superbly good. For our entrees, my wife and i each got the Pollo alla Milanese, a chickenparm without the mozz or red sauce. Very excellent and not a belly bomb either. Ombra staff was perfectly attentive and weregreat with our kids. We dined Al fresco under the shade and we were fortunate to get a few breezes. Such a nice surprise. I feel Italian food in the US isn’t easy to find but here you will enjoy an Authentic Italian food,... everything made from scratch. Restaurant is state of the art and one of the best in town. Service and food superb. I had adessert brought directly from Italy, that says it all. Excellent food for a special meal while on vacation. The halibut was excellent. The sauce had great flavor (buttery, light on... lemon) but the real treat was the golden raisins mixed with pine nuts and caramelized onions. Yum! A side of whipped potatoesand sautéed spinach. My daughter got the clams and spaghetti and again, the sauce we light but packed with flavor. My husbandordered the beef filet, which our waiter said was ‘magical’ and he was right! Excellent food and service! Not your typical Italian cuisine, MUCH higher quality. Every dish was extraordinary. We had the... scallop appetizer with ruffle cream sauce, prosciutto with arugula salad, vodka penne and veal medallions with truffle andmushrooms…all outstanding! The vodka sauce was extraordinary…with mushrooms, pancetta and peas. I highly recommend it. Andthe pans cotta is the best I ever had. Even the berries that accompanied it were perfectly ripe. Excellent! The food, the atmosphere and especially the service. Worthy of a 5-star review, for sure. Our family went with a... large group of 7 so we got to try a large array of the menu and that still was not enough to try all the delicious lookingoptions. The off-menu veal Parmesan was a stand out hit. One of the nightly specials — the Spaghetti Scolio — was a closesecond, served with an abundant amount of seafood, including a lobster tail and claw. And the halibut with pine nuts was one ofthe most flavorful white fish dishes I have ever encountered. Out of the 7 of us (2 picky eaters) not one person had a bad —or even mediocre — word to say about the food here. Hilton Heads restaurant scene has upped its game and Ombra is proof. Iwould be mistaken to not mention the service we received at this restaurant. Jody went above and beyond for our group. Betweentaking special orders to accommodate allergies, to choosing the spot she would tell us the specials so that my grandfather couldhear — the service was impeccable. Ombra Italiana is an incredible restaurant from start to finish. The hostess was kind and engaging; befriending our young... daughter and making her (and us) comfortable. The ambiance was great and rustic Italy. Dining room was clean, cool and wellorganized for larger parties. Jose (from Spain) was an excellent server. He kept our drinks full, helped us pick from themenu/specials and was an absolute pleasure to speak with. The wine list is robust and reasonably priced for a more upscalerestaurant. We had bottles of Chianti and Brunello that were excellent. The food was fantastic; 5 star! I had the Mediterraneanpasta and HIGHLY recommend it. All the seafood paired perfectly with the pasta. Salmon and halibut were a hit as well. Thelobster pasta stole the night though. You must get it if on special. We will continue to come back every time we are in HHI andhave our in town family trying it out. Well done & Thank You! Read more
