Have heard a lot about this place from locals on HHI and was finally able to try it last night. Was hands down the best Italian... food I?ve ever had in the US. Incidentally was also the best clam dish I?ve ever had in my life, even accounting for the manyclam bakes and dishes we?ve had throughout New England?a must-try if you can get a reservation (which you need!). Can I rate Flora's Italian Cafe at 10/10. I will anyways. We had an issue with our meal tonight, Flora personally took care of... us and made sure her customer was treated properly. I will not share all the details in this review, but her actions and theway she treats customers is amazing. A lot of restaurant owners can a thing or two about customer service from Flora and herteam. They have a raving fan for life and I will tell everyone that comes to Hilton Head about the awesome commitment to clientand customer satisfaction from everyone at Flora's Italian Cafe. It was just ok. The tiramisu had liquid chocolate sauce on top not cocoa powder. Service was great until the end when the... server suggested adding gratuity in. When we said we would do it ourselves (thinking we tip 20% always and auto gratuity is 18%typically), she then proceeded to physically write in the 20% amount on the check so we know what it would have been had shejust added it in. I?ve never experienced such bad service and attitude from an owner and staff. The clams in one of our dishes was bad and smelled... terrible. Brought it to the owners attention and she acts as if we don?t know what we?re talking about. This was after thecalamari appetizer was drowned in an overly sweet sauce that completely overpowered anything else on the plate. I mention thisto the server and we get ?but this is a favorite of everyone else.? This is when I first experienced the attitude that theythink they know better than you. This place used to be good but we will never go back and I recommend if you don?t want yourvacation evening ruined, find another place to dine. HIGHLY recommend Flora's. As soon as I walked in the door I felt like family. The entire restaurant has an amazing smell that... makes you want to just sit down and eat. It was my birthday dinner and we were a party of 10. Everything, and I mean everythingwas absolutely fantastic. The food is amazing, every single person at our table finished their entire dish. The wait staff (whois family) was VERY attentive. We also all ordered to-go desserts once we found out 90 percent of the dessert menu is made inhouse. We went here during our vacation at Hilton Head, SC. I was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere of this restaurant was suitable... for intimate and family dining. The environment was comfortable and not overcrowded. My family thoroughly enjoyed their meals.I went with a seafood pasta. My son linguini with a meat sauce. My wife had the lobster ravioli. We ordered dessert to takeback to our condo. The meal was wonderful. It reminded me of a family trip that we had at Mama Leone's in New York City back inthe 80s. The finest Italian restaurant that I have had the privilege of dining. Read more
