Reviews for British Open Pub in Hilton Head Island, SC
Decided to try this place despite the mix of reviews. The food was really good, but the service was not the best. We came... for dinner and they were very busy - a testament to their food. Our chicken pot pie and the meatloaf were delicious.Unfortunately, they are challenged like many places to provide a great overall experience. It took a while to get a waitress tous and then longer to get silverware for salads and longer for drinks. Recommend catching them at off peak times if possible fora better experience than we had. Any time if you just want some good hearty food. Read more
We met with family upon their recommendation while on vacation. The food was great. It was clean. Good service, great... selections. We really had a great time. ?Late evening? my husband was missing his wallet. We searched high and low. We calledand spoke with manager Jennifer. She was so kind and compassionate. She asked for our contact info and said she?d look and infact she did. Before she could get back to us we found it. Even though they were obviously very busy she took time to help us.Thank you Jennifer and staff. We will be back next time we?re in town. Read more
The British Open Pub did not disappoint!!! Everyone in our group loved what they ordered! Our appetizers were perfect (scotch... egg and pretzels). The baby back ribs are out of this world! The prime rib was superb! The liver and onions were phenomenal!! Myfavorite by far was the sweet potato fries!!! Best I have ever had!! Read more
Went for the prime rib special. It was done to perfection but didn't have a lot of flavor. Still a great meal since the au jus... had excellent flavor! I had the broiled seafood dinner (shrimp, scallops and cod) and it was fantastic. The side of bakedpotato casserole was ridiculously tasty and I was assured it was low calorie (sure it is Julie!). Just like the home madecarrot cake ???????? The staff was terrific as usual...Jen on the bar and Julie as our server. We couldn't have been happier. Read more
TLDR: It's a cute small place with good food. Can get super busy and tight with the amount of tables crammed in there. I would... recommend it overall. Our order: dinner on Jan 6th, 2022. I had the battered chicken and fries (was supposed to have coleslawbut didn't receive it), along with the 'local pretzel' appetizer. My mom had the Irish coffee I pictured and the pretzels. Mymom's husband had the Nacho appetizer. Chicken were the light and flaky pieces I wanted. As mentioned above, I was supposed toget coleslaw but they never gave it to me (????). The pretzels and nachos were the weakest parts. The pretzels were not heartytasting, like more German based ones (I'm from Ohio, and a cooking and Germanic background). The pretzels were ok but a bitbland, so not the best. The nachos weren't good, according to my mom's husband; they burned the chips and it was a bit dry, buthad lots of meat. My mom loved the Irish coffee ?. They made it with a double shot as she asked. Pros: 1) Good food withdecent prices. 2) Decor is on par (just had to, ????) with the theme they are going for, golf. 3) Pretty kind staff. Theyremembered (without prompting) the extra sauces I wanted. 4) They have inside and outside seating options. Cons: 1) I wasmissing a part of my meal. Even it was just a small coleslaw cup. 2) Tight space, especially when packed. Definitely notsocially distant tables (both inside and outside). 3) The appetizers were the weakest part of the meal. They totally need toexpand to another place. This place would do well with more space. Read more

Visiting Hilton Head and basically woke up with a craving for Fish & Chips. Came across the British Open Pub on-line and looked... at the menu. Wife has a thing for Ruben Sandwiches and the pics of the Fish & Chips looked good so off we went. The pub is verynice on the inside with a golf theme. There is seating at the bar, booths and tables inside and there are some outdoor seatingas well. The staff was super attentive and our order was taken right away. The food came out quickly and the portions were goodsized for the price. The Ruben was very good and my Fish & Chips were crispy on the outside and very tender and flaky on theinside. Perfect! Fries were good as well. We will definitely return on our next visit. Read more
