We get that the service industry is suffering and we always take that into account, but this was just not good. We tried... Rainforest Bar and Grill for the first time. First, our waiter was probably the manager/owner. One guy for the entire place -okay. Second, they charge $1.50 for water - which I had to get up and refill (he was no where to be found). Enchiladas weregood. Burrito - ehh. We finish our meal and we wait, and wait...while the waiter is busy talking to another patron at the bar 5feet away (so he wasn't overwhelmed). After 15 minutes, we finally got up and interuppted them to pay our bill. That is when welearn they charge for water. Seriously, they charge for tap water! We love coming to Highlands. We won't be coming back here.We will be going to back to Los Vaqueros where the food is good and the service is excellent. Perhaps the waiter/manager/ownercould spend time there learning how to take care of customers. Read more
I was looking forward to good Mexican food. Drove over an hour just to be seated and not being waited on. Next group of people... came in, they got seated next to us and got waited on, drinks and everything. Here we are 5 minutes after being seated, stillwaiting for at least a glass of water or something. Another 5 minutes later my wife said lets go. We walked out wasted an houror so. The first time we went there we loved the place and referred a lot our friends, never again will I waste my time on thisplace. No matter how good the food was. Read more
Has to be the best Mexican food I have had in a long time. I had the Fish Taco Plate and it was delicious. The fish was so... crispy and tasty. Their Margaritas were wonderful and they didn't skimp on the tequila!!! Our waiter was super and we got tomeet the owner/ chef. Both very nice people. Will definitely come back!!! Read more

This is not your regular old Mexican restaurant. Really good food. Fantastic service. I had the shrimp burrito. It was top notch... with a TON of shrimp in it. The beans were very tasty. The salsa had a bit of a smoky flavor and was one of my favorites ever.The guacamole was flavored perfectly and chunky. They make a very good margarita as well and don't skimp on the tequila! So we visited Rainforest Bar and Grill on our way home from TN in July and it was AWESOME! The owner was the only one serving... and the restaurant was full but he did an amazing job! With the way the economy is right now and trying to find employees hedefinitely has stepped up to the plate to keep the restaurant open. With him serving, running the bar, & bussing tables we weresurprised at how well he handled it! He gave us a little backstory on when he came to the states and how he started therestaurant. Our food was absolutely delicious and probably some of the best most authentic Mexican food we've ever eaten across10 different states we've lived in or traveled through! When we go back to visit we will definitely take a detour to sit downhere again! Please check him out and give it a try, you definitely won't be disappointed! Amazing place for authentic Mexican food in the area! Enrique is fantastic! He is so incredibly helpful and goes above and... beyond to make sure every guest is enjoying their experience AND their meal! Highly recommend a pitcher of margaritas! What a fabulous place! It was the best Mexican food I?ve had in a long time, sure wish they were in Atlanta! I had chips, salsa,... guacamole, flour tortilla tacos that were plentiful, savory without being heavy using extremely fresh ingredients. Theirmargaritas were unlike any other I?ve ever had, extremely delicious. Combine all that with an inviting atmosphere, love themusic, and a cheerful and helpful staff you get a great dining experience. Next time I?m in Highlands I?ll definitely be payingthem a visit.
