This is the first disappointing Golden chick I've ever been to in Texas. The Lotta zing sauce was watered down, rolls were dry... not buttered on top....fried chicken was bland had no flavor, same with the fries. I visited the restaurant Golden Chick, located at 227 Enterprise Blvd, Hewitt TX 76643 I ordered the triple tender sandwich and... chicken salad salad for lunch around 3:30 pm on Friday, August 14th. The salad I was served contained old lettuce, and when Iopened the lid I could smell a bad smell emitting from the container. The cheese inside was covered in mold with visible mold onthe top. I asked for the 3 piece fried catfish to replace the salad, and when I got it it appeared to have soggy spots on it. Ihave never eaten catfish this way, and when I broke the parts I believe it may have been undercooked. It was black and wet insome spots as if it had not been properly turned while cooking. I count at least 3 tables with food crumbs/parts on themincluding the table I?m sitting at, and I have been sitting here for over an hour. The sweet tea was labeled as sweet, but Itasted no sugar in it. It also tasted old. I chose to drink something else instead the of sweet tea offered. The men?sbathroom was closed and a sign said use woman?s bathroom, and the women?s bathroom?s toilet does not flush. I never had thistype of experience at a restaurant before, with such problems with the food and sanitation. However the girl at the counter wasnice to me, but I did not raise all these concerns with her except for the issue with the moldy salad. I?m worried that theoperation at this restaurant poses a health hazard to the individuals who might eat here. The chicken sandwiches had no pickles on them, like they did in the photos. The buns were so sweet it was like eating two donuts... with the chicken. Neither of us finished our chicken. It seems someone with a lot of money decided to start a chain but put zeroeffort into the food or menu. We ordered three sandwiches-two chicken and one spicy chicken. The spicy chicken was covered in ared spice and that was basically the only difference between that and the regular chicken. This Golden Chick is the best one we have visited. The staff were wonderful. Happy and super nice. After my worst experience... with Bush's chicken on Hwy 6 I was cheered out of my bad mood by the very nice gentleman working the front counter. Food wasnice and fresh and there were so many options. I had the chicken salad salad and it was so good! The fried catfish was nice andcrispy and the tenders superb. Will definitely be back. Read more
Five stars for the delicious Golden Chick sandwich, fries and sweet tea! Tea was a little on the too sweet side but I just added... a little of the unsweetened tea. There was only three people working and it took a long time to get our food. My father-in-lawwas on his lunch break and I felt bad that he had to wait that long for his food. My husband went to go get their tender Tuesday special. And they over charged him. They wouldn?t work with him.
