We live in Hampton Roads, but decided to eat here on the way home from a road trip. We were excited to find a restaurant that... sources the highest quality meats from local farmers and actually fries in lard (instead of unhealthy seed oils), soexpectations were high. Redemption BBQ did not disappoint...Everything was so, so delicious! Melt-in-your-mouth brisket, flavorful collards, the most AMAZING fries sprinkled with sea salt, and the sauces really impressed me with how complex andflavorful they were (not your typical overly sweet BBQ sauce). My family of 7 also enjoyed the wings (juicy and tender),cilantro slaw (love), and cucumber salad (perfect balance of sweetness and tang). The food was was fresh, and service was quick.Complimentary iced tea and great hospitality. We will definitely be finding our way back here again! Read more

Very friendly counter service restaurant to get high quality, fresh, and local food. Brisket and specials are sold on the... weekends Potato salad was great, fresh coleslaw, chicken and fries are cooked in lard (very tasty), and I saw jackfruit on themenu. Very solid sauces. And complimentary tea. Yes, free tea. The star of the show here is the smoked pork shoulder. You cantell they know what they are doing. Read more

Wow! Best barbecue I have had in the Richmond area. My very picky husband agrees. We both had the pork barbecue plates and tried... all of the different sauces - all excellent. I ordered to-go at the restaurant. The restaurant and meat counter were immaculate, extremely clean and organized. The service was impeccable. It was everything you could ask for and more. The mac and cheese wasdelicious and the potato salad was very good as well. But the best part definitely was the pulled smoked pork - it was amazing! Can't wait to go back! Read more

The Q is excellent, and the effort to build on VA-style sauces is worth the trip alone - as I was reminded today while... navigating a sweet DC offering. Thankfully, I had just a little of Redemption's Crossroads sauce left over to fix the problem. (Don't worry, they've got sweet sauce if you want it.) Interior is a bit bare bones, but this place is about putting realthought into the food. Collards were very good, not sweet and included some hock for flavor. Cole slaw was tangy and crunchyand played off the pork as a perfect addition to the sandwich. Just slightly out of the way, but seek it out: you won't bedisappointed. Read more

We almost went somewhere else, but I?m so glad we didn?t!!!! 20/10 both meals were top tier. Got the Hot Honey FriedChicken Sandwich and Old School Pulled Pork Sandwich with Praise The Lard Fries ???? chicken was so juicy and crunchy! Both meltin your mouth! One of the best fried chicken sandwiches I've ever had. Extremely juicy, flavorful chicken cooked perfectly. Light, almost airy... breading that just melts in your mouth. The fries also being cooked in lard were delicious. The tea was not too sweet, fresh andrefreshing. The meticulous attention to detail of ingredients and preparation will have me going back for more. I love the concept and the food. Local sourcing of meat, compostable utensils, Mexican Coke, nice people. We tried the pork and... the chicken barbecue sandwiches. For the sides, we got mac and cheese, potato salad and fries. The fries are fried in lard. Iwas pretty excited about this because I knew they would be delicious but I?m also avoiding vegetable and seed oils at themoment. They were indeed delicious. And the sauces? the sauces! Amazing. I love sauces so we tried a few on the sandwiches anddipped the fries in them. All so good. I think my favorite was the spicy version of the crossroads. My only criticism is theslaw was a little bland. I?m looking forward to going back. Read more

Stopped by for lunch on opening day of the new takeout restaurant? food was excellent, I had pork sandwich and also tried some... of my wife?s beef sandwich both were very flavorful. They are just getting up and running so bring some patients but the food isworth the wait. The menu is trimmed down for opening and I would expect it to expand and grow in the future. Read more
