Looks nice from the outside and it's clean, but the interior lacks character. We visited the cinema opposite and called in for... an afternoon meal. I gave the restaurant three stars because in fairness, I never saw or tried the boils or pastas and theymight actually be good, but my own experience was seriously underwhelming. There were no images or useful descriptions on themenu, so I couldn't gauge quantity or style. I opted for a crab basket (soft shell crab) and it was awful. What a waste ofmoney. A very small crab, minus claws, deep fried on a bed of Cajun fries. I got less than a single fork full of slimy meat outof it and feel as though I paid through the nose for the privilige. Maybe you can eat the whole thing. I had no idea, but twobites would have seen to that and I didn't fancy it. Pleasantly surprised as this location has had a lot of turnover restaurants (I?m assuming rent costs have a lot to do with it)... and I hope this place will stand the test of time because holy cow it?s good! Drinks were definitely strong. Flavors were good. Would have like to see the tomalley (intestines) clean and gutted out of my... lobster. Was not clean at all. Was not please to see my lobster being partially green, especially considering I spend a easy$300 this day. Would like to see a option where they offer peel shrimp for those that don't like to peel the shrimp whole. But Iwould definitely return other then that. The food was actually good. Went to Smashin Crab for the first time today for lunch with my husband. From the looks of the outside of the restaurant we... thought it was an upscale restaurant but to our surprise it was very casual. The food was good and they gave you very generousamounts of food. I had the shrimp basket with fries and my husband ordered the catfish basket. We also ordered a basket of friedpickles which were very good. So this was my first time but the rest of the family has been here several times and then it's definitely turned into one of... their favorite places. The food was really delicious and they rave at how good the king crab boil is. Definitely a breath offresh air having a good, quality seafood restaurant! The decor is really bright and cheerful too bringing in a little bit ofthat NOLA vibe!
