Reviews for Harvey's @ The Henderson in Hendersonville, NC
Had a wonderful experience at the wine pairing/dinner last Wednesday night. We try to make as many as we can. As usual the food... was fantastic and the wines selected by the distributors were amazing. What I appreciate the most is the monumental task witheach course having nearly 50 plates come out at the same time and right temperature. All while expressing Chef Michael'screativity and broadening our knowledge of wines. Well done can't wait for the next one! Read more
I gave a review on Yelp but need to leave one here also. I?ll keep this one short and they get one star because the owner or... chef can?t take constructive criticism. I had given 2 stars on Yelp. But I had to take one star away after my wife was basicallyverbally attacked by this business with their reply to her one star review. One and done for us unfortunately because we hadhigh hopes. Way Over cooked pork that was super dry. No place to put mussel shells. Staff that didn?t care if the propaneheaters were burning my head and refused to move them until my 3rd time complaining. 2 of my 5 courses were acceptable. Only thedesert was good. The employees from Wine and Sage were they only bright spot of our evening. Read more
I came from Philadelphia to meet my parents in Asheville. They wanted to take me to one of their favorite places in town and... there was Harvey's. The food was amazing and fortunately so was the weather. More importantly was the staff and owners. We weregreeted by all of them and I had by far the best ceviche I have ever had...in NC no guess. Just an amazing experience that a 42year old cook from West Chester PA could have had. Thank you Chef Michael and Jeanine.???? Read more
The brunch here isn't as good as it used to be. We used to go here at least once a month pre-pandemic and it was always great.... The breakfast burrito recipe changed and wasn't exciting as it was before. The salsa served with it taste like store boughtsalsa. The smoked salmon benedict was bland. We also got the french toast which was served with margarine. Although the coffeewas good and fresh, I doubt we will be going back for brunch. Tasted like a cheap breakfast. Overall, the food was edible. Thequality just fell way below my expectations considering this was once one of my favorite brunch restaurants. Read more
I?ve been to Harvey?s for both brunch and dinner. Brunch is excellent! We had crab cakes Benedict and brioche French toast with... berry compote. I also had a couple of mimosas. The patio is nice and large, shaded and has privacy blinds. At dinner, we had thefish and chips, baked scallops, and heart of palm tacos. The fish and chips were great and served with malt vinegar and tartarsauce; the bakes scallops were so good and tender served on a shell with a butter sauce; the heart of palm tacos wereunconventional with fried heart of palm, a chipotle aoli, and fried jalapeños. We met the chef/owner, Michael, and he gave us alittle tour of the downstairs. Nice experience. Read more

Lovely brunch on the porch of The Henderson at Harvey's. Simple dishes but executed very well. Bloody Mary was yummy. My... seared mountain trout was cooked perfectly. Crispy skin, tender fish. Everyone cleaned their plates! I only remembered totake a picture of our tuna tartare appetizer. I didn't eat the wonton chips so my only complaint with the whole meal was thatthe texture of the tartare dish was all the same. It would have been nice with some cucumbers or more peppers to give it somecrunch. Still very tasty! Read more
My husband and I booked the wine dinner on Wed, Oct 12. Having been to wine dinners here previously, all wonderful, we set our... expectations very high given there would be "dueling" wine distributors competing with each course. Well, we were notdisappointed. Food first: the mussel, saffron soup was potentially the most tasty starter we've ever had and we've had somegreat ones. The mussels were fresh and meaty, the saffron broth seasoned perfectly, an excellent compliment withoutoverpowering. Following the mussels came fried green tomatoes and the kick up in spice with the buttermilk dressing wasperfect. Next, a salmon mousse, delicious, fresh, light to the taste but full of flavor. Pork saltimbocca, one of my husband'sfavorites, was skillfully done and cooked to perfection. By the time dessert came we were both quite happy and full but the chocolate cake with one of the red wines served paired too well to pass us and we found a way to clear our plates. Wines:frankly, this was among the best wine pairings we've experienced because all of the wines worked well with each course and not aone was more than $19 a bottle, seriously, and a few were in the $10-$12 range...thank you Grapevine and Empire for consideringmy palate and wallet. To conclude, the service and atmosphere at Harvey's is always warm, friendly, and attentive and the teamonce again got it right! Chef Michael really set the bar high on this one, cannot wait till the next one...save a spot for us! Read more
