Reviews for The Montana Club in Helena, MT
Hi: I Like going to the MT. Club, atmosphere, mostly. I do notice that it is usually empty in the dining room. That is sad as I... do tell my friends to go there. I was just there, ordered water, was delivered at the end of my overcooked, no cheese on my midrare cheese burger, wrong drinks were served, no apologies, no one asked how are meals were, bar mistress was to busy talking toa patron, or emailing. OK, one more thing. Why does it take 30 minutes to cook a mid rare burger, and don't say because it wasovercooked. I think I am finished going there. J. M. Cooper Read more
Friendly and inviting. Beautiful place I highly recommend touring the building.
The Montana Club hosted our wedding ceremony and reception. They created exactly what we wanted, an intimate ceremony followed... by a small reception on the second floor. The staff, food and bartenders were fantastic but Stephanie, the Manager was soincredibly helpful throughout the process of planning and helped us create the perfect evening. Highly recommend for a wedding, your next event or just dinner and cocktails! Read more
This is in no way meant to be a scathing review, just some observations to improve local business in our area. We felt terrible... telling the staff the food wasn?t very good. The ambiance is nice and the concept is that of fine dining with friendly service. The idea behind the main dishes are also a fine dining concept but the execution could use some work. The Cornish game hen andprime rib were very dry, potato gratin was crunchy, and risotto very oily and the ?wild? mushrooms looked more like cremini?s.However the broccoli Was done well. The asparagus was overcooked and salads were tiny with limp lettuce and the crab cakes werevery average with wilted arugula on top. The Montana Club is a local spot for us so we hope this will be helpful as we?d liketo return. For the high price of the food we had hoped this was going to be higher quality experience but we were unfortunatelypretty disappointed. Read more
Took off 1/2 star because the building was clearly not able to support a wedding party of 300 guests as everywhere was... incredibly cramped and packed and the drink lines were excessively long. Took off 1/2 star because it took better than 2 hoursfor my table to get our dinner, and our table was directly in the middle and in front of the groom and bride. However, theatmosphere was very nice for a wedding, the staff were very friendly, and the chicken was pretty good. Read more
We came here with high expectations after hearing positive reviews. The building itself is beautiful and features take you back... to its heyday. Beyond the beauty, the restaurant aspect is lacking. Service was slow due to one server for roughly 10 tables.Customers were going to the bar serving themselves. Our food was good but not amazing. We ordered entrees and one was missing aside that was brought to the server's attention but never came. In the end, despite not receiving the full entree, we werecharged full price. Unsure if it was an off night or trying to get back into the swing of things, but I wouldn't recommend theMontana Club dining experience. Read more
My husband and I stopped by for a drink while out for date night. The service was outstanding and the pours were generous- which... was good since it was $14/glass! Quiet and comfortable atmosphere, we would definitely go there again on a date night. Weappreciated how attentive and service focused the bar staff was. A helpful improvement would be to provide a wine/drink list- wewere told that there wasn?t one. Read more
Dined here last year for our anniversary and while the salmon dish I had tasted good at the time, I ended up with food poisoning... later that evening. I emailed the owner the following day to let them know their fish may be bad and never received a response. We returned to dine tonight and found the menu very limited - the only entree was prime rib which was ok. The real kicker camewhen our check arrived. We ordered a bottle of wine - Beringer Knights Valley Cab Sauv - which was listed at $14 (or maybe $17)per glass (the bottle prices are not listed on the wine list) and we were ultimately charged $90 for the bottle! YIKES! Not surewe'll be back a third time. Read more
