Randomly stumbled upon RayJays tonight and we couldn?t be more impressed !!!! The prime rib special was the best I?ve had in... the area for a fair price and the gyro was on par with some of our favorite spots in Chicago. Our server was so sweet andattentive. We will definitely be back, thank you !!! Read more

Pizza here was very good. Staff was friendly. I wouldn't say it was family friendly. Mostly a nice bar with good pizza. No... complaints about the food. Read more

Went to Ray Jays for our usual trip up north (everytime we go to Hayward, usually 5-10 times a year, we always make a stop... because the owner was always so nice, great staff and amazing food). Last night we went in and we?re completely disappointed.Preston the sever was there and was beyond nice as always and super kind but there was another woman behind the bar we?ve neverseen before that was completely rude and pretty much told us to leave. We got there saying table for 5 and she goes well thefood is going to take well over an hour. I don?t think your kid will last that long (who says that?!) next there was no cleantables and she said she hasn?t had time to clean anything and she will get to it when she can. We said no worries or rush atall. Food taking over an hour is fine and we just wanted to hang at one of our favorite places in town. We stood there for a bitand the eye glares were coming from her. You could tell she didn?t want us there. I get off nights come but man, it was tough. We went over to a table with just a few plastic waters on and I picked them up. Next thing I know she?s yelling at me frombehind the bar, yes yelling, and then runs from behind the bar to tell me to stop. I get if it was glass, it?s a liability. Butbeing a frequent customer there thought picking up like 5 plastic glasses would be ok to help out. We stood there and theremarks kept coming and then she said something else under her breath so we left. We are so sad because we absolutely lovedgoing to RayJays. Whether for summer or winter always had the greatest time. We heard that Ray is handing down the business somaybe that?s why. We won?t be back anytime soon. Highly recommend going somewhere else if you want happy workers to serve you.We ended up going to Rusty Hook and had an AMAZING time! Great food and the service there was outstanding. Ask for Amanda. She?sawesome! Thanks Ray for the amazing service and food over the years! You always treated us so well and LOVED y Read more

6/10/22 My husband and I stopped for dinner. We got the last open table.l was going to get the pizza but the waitress said the... wait for that would be over an hour. So I got the mushroom Swiss burger and it was the best one I've ever had. An unbelievablebrown gravy lightly covering the meat was even better than my mom made. It took over an hour too but we are on vacation and hadplenty of time. Some people were getting irritated about the wait... but my son is a chef in Minneapolis and I knew there wasonly one chef, one bartender and one waitress/dishwasher and a full house. It was worth the wait and we will be back for thepizza next time because it looked incredible walking by! And we learned a valuable lesson about dinner in the region duringtourist season. If you don't want to wait ....get there when they open or an hour before closing! And a shout out to thewaitress who bore the brunt of the irritated customers, you never lost your smile. Read more

My other half, two kids and I went there Thursday and it took about two and a half hours to get our food. The waitress was nice... and it wasn't her fault. They were not overly busy though. The steak I ordered and the steak I got was two different cuts (anycook should know their steaks) and I ordered well done but just told the waitress I would finish cooking it at home. The pizzathe kids and my other half got was delicious. The other half got chili and I got a salad. The kids got cheese curds. Those 3things should not have taken so long but it took about an hour and a half to get them. So needless to say I won't be going back.I used to love that place but whatever change they did, was not a good one! Read more

Decent pizza. Note that a large is 18" (more like a extra large at most other restaurants). The pizza isn't cheap. One topping... large runs you over $23 and a two topping is about $30. Read more
