I attempted to make reservations at this restaurant for a party of 5. However, upon finding out that they're closed midday, I... told the guy that I would like to check with the rest of my party to determine the best time and--click. The call ended. So Icalled back about 30 minutes later just in case it was an accidental hang-up. I the meantime, I also confirmed a time. However,when I called the 2nd time, much to my chagrin, I found out after speaking with the same person again that it was NOT a mistakeand quite intentional because upon questioning him about the previous hang-up he didn't take responsibility and offer an apologylike any DECENT human being. He actually doubled down and hung up again. I just lost my appetite for Japanese cuisine. I thinkI'll have Thai instead! Read more
This hibachi grill was an amazing experience. It looks really nice in the restaurant too. It is so cool when the chef comes in... and cooks right in front on you and they ignite fire on that silver platform to cook with. Read more
This is probably the best Hibachi I've had in the Hattiesburg area. From the outside the building looks like any regular... restaurant, but in the inside it looks very kept up. The Hibachi tables were nice and clean before they started cooking and theperson cooking was really nice. The best part of course is the food, the portions were amazing and the quality was better thanany hibachi I've experienced. There was so much that almost everyone had to get a to go plate for the leftover food. I got thechicken hibachi which I highly recommend. Went to celebrate a birthday with friends the food was great! I got the raspberry martini and my friend got the sour apple... martini both awesome! Staff was accommodating with my meal as I don't eat onions or mushrooms! Read more
Some of the reviews on here are real head scratchers. Maybe some folks haven't had the hibachi experience before and it's the... "gee whiz" thing? I dunno. The food at Oishi is fair at best. The onion soup (clear) seemed old and was low quality. Maybe theyleft it on the heat too long? The Hibachi steak was 100% overcooked. Asked for medium, got well done. The vegetables wereovercooked. It was all greasy. Just not good food. The salad was the only thing they had going for them. The ginger dressing wasspot on. At that point, it's a 2-3 star review. Then inexplicably they added an automatic 18% gratuity to the check. We had atable of 5. I typically tip 25%. If the service is just terrible, I'll drop it to 15% or so and sometimes go above 25% if theyjust crush it. The service here was fine. Nothing wonderful, nothing terrible. And I would've def tipped the 25%, but automaticgratuity on a table of 5 is dumb. And with that food? lol Read more
I stopped in here as I was passing through Hattiesburg. This place was a delight from the moment I stepped inside. They are all... practicing safe distancing and proper 'Rona protocol. I was seated quickly although there was a brief wait, they were veryimpressive the way they were rotating their guests in and out. I ordered a lunch box with shrimp and a spicy tuna roll.Everything was really good. This is another example of where half stars are needed. This place is a solid 4.5... Solid! Mostpeople don't realize it's very rare for a true 5 star place. This place is very close. All the staff were very friendly.. Iwill make my way back to this jewel in Hattiesburg. Read more
