Traveling back home to Georgia I stopped off here for a quick burger and fries. It was my first time here. The staff was... friendly and efficient. The food was fresh and tasted good. The prices are reasonable. It is less than five minutes fromInterstate 81. If you are looking for quick, friendly and reasonably priced this is a good place to stop. There is an area thatis well kept outside with picnic tables and umbrellas so you can dine either inside or outside. Read more
I had a long drive ahead of me and my friend and I decided to have lunch at Cookout and we were pleasantly surprised to have the... best customer service. The restaurant was clean, the service was on point and the food was great!! I can REALLY tell thatthe manager cares that the customers have a good experience. If I happened to be in this area again, though there are MANYoptions, I'd def consider revisiting. Read more
Moving back to Pittsburgh (we used to live in NC for a few years) made me realize how much I missed Cook Out. When we went on a... trip to VA, and seeing the Cook Out there, we knew we had to go at least once before coming back to PA. Definitely wasn'tdisappointed! So much food for the price. A lot of bang for your buck. The chicken nuggets (even though not a lot for a side)were so tender, you wouldn't think that it was fast food. The milkshake was so thick, it took 10-15 minutes for me to even beable to drink it. So good. I miss this establishment! Read more
My son suggested this restaurant. Although the prices are great, the food is mediocre at best. They do have a variety of... milkshakes at prices I haven?t seen since the 90s. They still have no inside dining, so you have to use the drive-thru. Theywere nice enough to put up a sign suggesting you use the shorter of two lines. There is such a wide variety of offerings on themenu, first timers will hold up the line as they peruse the items. Since this is located near James Madison University, it?sprobably caters to them. Did not have a full burger one of the nest was a half meat. And you can see what the lettuce look like. Very disappointed.
Dining room closed with no signage. No access to restrooms. Watched dozens walk up and try to get into the dining room then... walked to Wendy?s. Food is typical but missing utensils and items with no way to correct. Read more
Extremely cheap for large amount of food. Fast and efficient. Workers were kind and patient. The shakes were outstanding. I got... the banana pudding shake and it had plenty of vanilla wafer cookies in it. Food was average for the price, but variety was solarge it was almost verwhelming. Cook Out is my favorite fast-food BBQ chain. They are the only ones in the areas that I frequent which offer a true North... Carolina style BBQ sandwich. Not just pulled pork with a vinegar sauce poured over it, but true chopped pork in the sauce withtraditional fine-cut coleslaw and a dash of Texas Pete. The best deal here is a BBQ tray that comes with the sandwich (or yourchoice of other entree like a burger, etc.), two sides, and a drink for a really decent price cheaper than any other fast-foodcombo meal from the national chains. Food is always fresh and tasty, can't say enough good things about them. Unfortunatelythis location has more than its fair share of issues. Almost every visit over the last year has resulted in an incorrect order.One time I even got a chicken sandwich instead of the BBQ.... how does that happen!? Also, prior to the pandemic when the diningarea was open, the bathrooms always seemed like they hadn't been cleaned for several days. Not a good thing when you arestopping in after several hours on I-81 and are looking for a clean place to relieve yourself. All that said, service has atleast been fast and courteous despite the inaccuracies. And they open up early at 1030am which makes it easier to time an earlymorning stop during a road trip. Read more
