My husband and I ate breakfast here Sunday morning, maybe a 10-15 minute wait but well worth it! I think this is the best... breakfast we have ever had. We shared our plates I ordered the western omelette with a side of home fries, hubby orderedbiscuits with sausage gravy and a side of grits. Everything was cooked perfectly and a great meal for $30. Drove up from Northern Virginia to hike to Maryland Heights Overlook but wanted a big breakfast before getting on the trail. I... googled for restaurants near me that are open and this wonderful place came up about a mile from the train station. I wasthrilled with everything about the place. First off it is darling, just cute as a button. The staff and customers are extremelyfriendly. I worried a bit that I would stick out as an out-of-towner in this town that has a lot of tourists. No problem here.They were warm and friendly. Ken, a local, relocated his seat to chat. There was another table I thought was local but they werereturning visitors. They had chatted with Ken on prior visits. It was old home week. AND my breakfast was the best. It was theHearty Breakfast on the menu. I had 2 eggs, some wonderful home fries, 3 slices of great bacon, and some whole wheat toast. Igrew up in Maine, land of home fries. So I can attest they were good. Great place for breakfast. Parking is pretty easy, even though there isn't much of a lot. Just park on the road. Good portions... for value, especially drinks. Got country breakfast and veggie omelet. Both delicious. Read more
We decided to have breakfast somewhere random that morning, and this came up in the search, so we drove here from Manassas, VA.... It was to be expected that there would be some waiting to be seated on a Sunday afternoon. Food tasted like what you'd expectfrom a breakfast joint. The grits, on the other hand, were on fire! One of the best things I've tried in a long time. Nocomplaints about the portions for the price listed. The only suggestion would be to organize their cooking method. As abreakfast spot, I see a lot of areas where they could improve. Waiting nearly an hour for breakfast food is not ideal. I canassure you that it isn't because for many years, I've served over 800 people daily with four cooks, and everything was hot andfresh. Here, they appeared to be cooking for each ticket individually rather than in batches of ten. And with their setup, theycan do at least half of that. Again, if I have to wait nearly an hour for ham steak and eggs and grits, there is clearly roomfor improvement. The service was excellent, but the servers' boy shorts concerned me. Hot food and shorts don't go together.But who am I to complain if the restaurant is willing to gamble on safety? P:S: Parking was a bit hard to manage. Read more
Terrible service...its like we were bothering them stopping by to eat. We both ordered turkey clubs....the turkey meat was... slimy....literally some cheap packaged deli meat. Disgusting. The rye bread was the best thing about the sandwich. Had goodreviews...what a disappointment. Update: wanted to reply to the owner. I paid the bill in full with cash and left a 10% tip.Lying about me paying, ridiculous! If anyone had bothered to mention to us that you were working on a new system that wouldhave definitely helped explain the situation. I rarely write negative reviews this was deserved. Read more
Clean, friendly atmosphere. Waitstaff very pleasant. The food is good! Ice tea,on point. Highly recommend, stopping in.
Can't go wrong here fast service and fresh breakfast food. Local hang out with quaint no frills old country style decorating.... Not a large spot so get there early before the line goes out the door. Read more
