Stopped here on a whim on my way through. Went for lunch on a Saturday and the food was pretty good. Ordered Mac and Cheese and... Greek salad (Mediterranean dressing was good!) Was the first one to be seated when it opened at 11a, but they weren?t takingorders until about 11:30/45a because the kitchen was short staffed. I still decided to have a drink while I waited. Thewaitresses and hostesses were kind and attentive. Cute ambience with the patio seating, antique shop and eclectic decor.Reasonably priced. Would come back for the ambience and proximity to the rail trail where you can rent bikes. Read more

Very neat place. Stopped in for drinks and ice cream. A little pricey. Bought some soy candles and other goodies to take home to... family. Lots of antiques and the decorations were wonderful. Would love to come back to have lunch or dinner some time. Read more

Weird & wonderful. Given that Hancock occupies the thinnest part of Maryland, I enjoyed this Appalachian "in between" space... where you can buy over priced antiques, ice cream, and bar chow. The pulled pork was a little sweet for my taste but the pickleon the side solved that. Nice IPA. See photos. Read more

I adored the atmosphere and the vibrant colors, as well as the assorted knickknacks arranged here and there, that you could buy... if you wanted to! The drinks were great, I had a sarsaparilla soda that was homemade. And ate their eggs Benedict, the egg wassupposed to be poached, but it ended up hard boiled, which was alright, it tasted just as fine. The flavor was fairly neutral, but it was delightful none the less. I also had the cream of crab soup, which was delicious, it was steaming when it came out tome. The cream was perfect, and there was chunks of soft vegetables mixed in, along with the perfect crab. All portionedsuperbly. Read more

This is really a 3.5 star review as opposed to a 4 star. But I?ll allow the 4 to stand. For the area, eating establishments... are not abundant. So in that respect, Buddylou?s is the nicest restaurant establishment for the area in terms oflocation/proximity to downtown Hancock; proximity to the Civil War and Western Maryland Rail Trail; ambiance; and a departurefrom the few fast food restaurants in the vicinity. The menu seems to made up mostly of sandwiches and burgers, with a handfulof substantial meal options on the side. I wasn?t impressed with their crab cakes and not particularly fond that the lobstermeat in my lobster roll was minced very finely. It wasn?t a bad sandwich but it wasn?t my favorite?especially at the $19 pricepoint I believe I paid. I am aware they have had staffing issues for a while now. That tends to affect their hours. And as aformer waitress, I can totally empathize with the issues that come with being short staffed. But until those staffing issuesget worked out, you will have to come prepared to be exceptionally patient and forgiving if the service feels a littleinattentive or slow at times. This is one of those places you come to ?slow down? for a spell and take in the scenery, andcheer for the one lone waitress trying to get everyone?s order right. Read more

This place is really neat. Great vibe and music of the era...very eclectic. Probably outstanding on a nice warm day, the outdoor... seating! Super nice staff and the food was good. No real complaints. The menu has some cool, unusual items too, like the friedLion's Mane mushroom nuggets appetizer. Read more

My wife had scoped this spot out during a recent road trip to DC. It's a bit off the interstate, but lots of antique décor,... super friendly staff, and good food. Parking can be found either in the adjacent lot or on the street. Spot is kid friendly andthey had a high chair for our toddler. For food we shared the famous crab fries and the crab cake sandwich. When in Maryland, amI right? Overall it was pretty good. I think my only wish was that the fries came out more crispy. Other than that the crabmeat was plentiful and seasonings and tarter sauce did not disappoint. 'Til next time, cheers! Read more
