What a neat vibe! We are passing through the area and decided to stop due to the reviews and glad that we made the venture onto... the island to check this firehouse coffee place out. It had a great atmosphere. We got their specialty. Drink the lavendervanilla latte, and an iced white chocolate mocha. Very good. It was not busy at all, and the employees were really welcoming.Love that they had indoor and outdoor seating, and the decor definitely connected to the firehouse theme. Very neat! Read more
Cute coffee shop uniquely located outside the SW corner of Fort Monroe in a historic Army firehouse. Indoor and outdoor seating... with friendly staff and comfortable and mellow homey vibe. Old fashioned ice cream, sandwiches, bakery, sodas and hot/coldcoffee/tea options + more. Kid friendly with options to sit at couch and play games or tables by a window to study or read.Great place to stop to cool off in the AC, grab a cold drink and admire the historic building. Great iced chai latte and pleasant breakfast sandwiches. I will say I was pretty disappointed because they lost our ticket and... we had to wait over 30 minutes while people were getting served that came in after us. Not to mention they forgot the oat milkmy boyfriend asked for. Cute place but a little unorganized. Read more
Super sweet people working at this adorable coffee shop. Not many people there on a lonely Thursday afternoon. They have fun... fireman things, chess, and other toys for kids to play with. I ordered a dirty chai, and it was great. Kids got hot chocolate,and they said it was good. We got a bag of coffee beans, and we are excited to try the Chesapeake Bay blend! Read more
Update 2/3 There are some subtle changes happening! The new owners are very friendly and Firehouse Coffee remains the same... community meeting spot it has always been. The new owners are very receptive to feedback. I'm excited to see what else is instore. --------- This is a cute little coffee shop with sandwiches and ice cream. It's nestled in the heart of Fort Monroe in anold firehouse. The ice cream was fantastic and the coffee was good. I would definitely give this place another visit. Read more
The whole Ft. Monroe area is super cool but strange at the same time. It sometimes still feels like an active military base,... but then you have regular business and residents. This old coffee shop is outside the main fort, just a jaunt away. I had ascoop of salted caramel ice cream which was brilliant and a hot apple cinnamon muffin. The prices were reasonable for whateverI ordered, but I can?t say for other lunch-food items. Recommend a visit if in the area, cheers. Read more
Overall nice shop, but looks like it was thrown together, was very expensive, and didn?t feel all that professional. I got the... chicken salad sandwich on ciabatta and a latte with vanilla and whole milk - altogether $16. The sandwich and latte were prettyawesome, and the staff was friendly, helpful, and welcoming. I would come back if I happened to be on Fort Monroe, but Iwouldn?t make a trip to here specifically. I do appreciate the uniqueness of the theme of this shop in a historical firehouse,and they offer great things. And I know for the most part it?s just my preference displaying my dislike here, and that there aremany people that would absolutely love this place. It?s too easy to compare things these days! Came here to WFH. I like it so much more than I was anticipating. Roomy, windows are opened so the place is filled with fall... air. Staff are really friendly and personable. Smoothies are actually good (hard to find at a coffee shop imo.) The coffee wasgood. They have a breakfast and lunch menu. If you have kids, they have some toy fire trucks they can play with. Music isn?t tooloud if you are trying to work like I was. And it?s in a really cute, walkable area. Read more
