I came on a weekday for a pretty late lunch. My chicken hibachi came out hot and fresh and was delicious. The portion size is... large enough that I took some home and ate it for lunch the following day. This place is locally owned, and I enjoy supportingsmall business owners. I had a great experience, but I hope those that didn’t will politely address it with the staff and keepcoming back as they get their footing under them. They are still very new! :) Read more

The staff was friendly, the service was excellent and the wait time was minimal. As for the menu there was lots of different... options. I went with a chicken and shrimp bowl. The portions were huge! Food was fantastic. Nice to have something different inour community. Definitely will dine here again! Read more

We arrived for lunch around 1pm. Every table except the three that were occupied were dirty. We were told to \"Sit where you... like.\" Ummm, I need a clean table to sit at first. Our party of 2 ended up sitting at a very large table meant for at least 8,right at the door. The stools at the tall tables are uncomfortable and not meant for a relaxing meal. The egg rolls are TINY,and taste like they came out of a freezer, right into a fryer of old oil. Overly crispy, greasy, dark brown in the outside andmushy on the inside. The Hibachi Chicken bowl was better but it was cooked with a lot of soy sauce and was very salty. Thewaitress was pretty attentive, but overall it was overpriced and totally not worth it. We will not be returning. I am verydisappointed as my whole office was excited to get a hibachi place locally. Read more

We are locals and we’re hoping for some really good hibachi. Waitress was great and atmosphere was nice. Our only reason for... the 3 stars was the food was salty, mushy and reminded me of a lean cuisine meal for some reason. They are new so I hope theycan take some harsh criticism. I would love to see a better menu, authentic crisp on the outside fried rice, bold flavors andplates that don’t look like a lean cuisine meal:) I do however love the sustainability of them. Dined in on a Saturday night after spending time at the beach. We were promptly greeted, seated, served drinks and had plenty of... help from their staff on menu questions and vegan selections.\n\nWe started with an appetizer of edamame before moving on toentrees which included the Asian Salad, Chicken Hibachi Bowl, Shrimp Hibachi Bowl and a side\nof steamed white rice for ourlittle one.\n\nVery impressed! Food was served quickly and was cooked perfectly, servers were attentive on refills, extranapkins, etc. and I loved the little touches like an orchid on the table and environmentally friendly dishes. Very clean and theopen atmosphere that makes the restaurant feel much larger than you’d imagine from the outside.\n\nCan’t wait to go backonce they’ve secured their ABC license to enjoy some sake while exploring their menu further. I want to start by saying that the food was not horrible. It is edible. We have tried it twice. We were just disappointed. It... definitely does not taste like authentic hibachi. The fried rice was hard and not flavorful and the veggies were lacking flavorand were not cooked enough. The yum yum sauce is the only thing that gave the food any flavor. Without the yum yum it would nothave been good. It did not taste like hibachi. The spring roll and donuts were the best things. The Hibachi Hut and even KettleDinner has better flavor. I’d love to see some changes made and it be different in the future. Not horrible but not great. Read more

Well I would say I’m a bit of a food connoisseur; Asian style food being one of my favorites. With that being said, Island Wok... has something special!\n\nEverything we tasted was absolutely phenomenal!\nCustomer service was top notch. For a soft openingI’ve only been to a couple that were even to par with them. Very excited to see what they accomplish.\n\nWe tried almosteverything on the menu. The dumplings were great, the egg rolls and spring rolls were good; the spring rolls were betterpersonally. Chicken was tender, shrimp were cooked perfectly, filet was outstanding and each piece was tender. Filet was mypersonal favorite. The fried rice and noodles both were good, vegetables were consistently good. Fried rice took my favoriteover the noodles. The doughnut holes were to die for! Lol I mean crazy good! We had zero issues with the food or service; &personally I am a hard person when ordering & eating, they had no issues.\n\nThank y’all for having us! Read more

YUM!!!! My neighbor went for their soft opening and brought me back some Filet Hibachi. I ordered my steak well done (I’m... pregnant so it has to be for safety!) and it was cooked perfectly! Cooked all the way through but somehow still tender. Thefried rice was delicious as were the veggies. Island Wok is JUST what surf city (and my third trimester appetite) needed????\n\nPicture Shows the food after sitting for about 30 minutes (my neighbor and I are chatty so this is no fault of IslandWok :) )\n\nBrownie points for their compostable takeout containers!!!!!!!
