I have had a lot of BBQ, all over the place. I have to say i now know why this guy went out of business with "his" restaurant on... Ottawa street, I use quotes as the previous owners did a great job, but when they sold it, down the toilet it went. The food wasterrible, hardly had much available and the freshness was questionable. I met the owner "Redman" or method man or whatever hecalled himself. It was like talking to a cross between a ambulance chasing injury lawyer and a bad used car salesman. He was sofull of it that I should of brought my boots. One of the staff members even told me about how he was shorting the pay but heneeded to keep working until he found something else. Edit: This place used to be great but then it sold and the new owners drove it into the ground. The food quality has gone way... downhill, the food is often cold and dry, they get orders wrong, and the atmosphere is icy in there now. Just had my first experience at Southern Smoke, and it was a great one! The staff were very friendly and the owner even chatted... with us for quite a while. The food was fresh and delicious (and VERY generous portions) Neither of my friends were able tofinish their pulled pork (but were both happy to have leftovers.) I had the chicken and was only able to finish bc I skipped thebun. TRY THE MAC DADDY AND CHEESE. I LOVE mac and cheese. This is my favourite one of life. Please do yourself a favour. This was our second time here. Yum. We sampled the "burnt ends" -- brisket -- and chicken sandwich. The restaurant has a nice... selection of local and craft beer.
