Visited for the first time on a Saturday night with friends, and we were not disappointed! Food was amazing, especially the... spinach gnocchi. I enjoyed the Invisible Gin cocktail. Also, shoutout to our amazing and knowledgeable server Cody! He wasattentive and on the ball. Thanks Field Guide, we’ll be back! Read more
This was hands down the best meal we have ever eaten. We travel around the world often and make eating our primary focus. Nowhere... in Europe, Asia or America have we stumbled upon so many bites that just shut down the conversation and required us to close oureyes and quietly enjoy the meal. The pork belly was the favorite of the night. It is astounding to see the whole restaurantcooked for on just one small stove! Incredible. Read more
Fantastic experience... we did they "let us decide" option with the wine pairings and were blown away by the quality, creativity... and depth of flavors, as well as the excellent selection of accompanying local wines and beverages. Excellent cocktails aswell! Service was excellent with a low key eclectic vibe that keeps it fun. Wish I lived closer - I would be a regular! Please keep doing what you are doing. Read more

All around AMAZING! Im quite particular about my food and drinks, and this place did a fantastic job of creating a summer fresh,... delicious and creative menu (with great service). I had minor critiques, but overall was in love and would return and recommendto anyone. Food: We started with the bread and mussels. Best mussels we’ve ever had, as they were cooked perfectly (andfresh) and the broth was heaven. The bread pairing was perfect to soak up all the buttery broth goodness. Next was the ShrimpBao. The bread was fluffy and light, and shrimp was at chilled room temperature, perfect for a summer day. A good flavour ofcelery in case you dislike that, but I’d still suggest you try it! Finally we had the Zucchini and Beef Tartare. Zucchinididn’t wow, though still fresh and summer minty vibes. Beef Tartare…hands down best we’ve ever had. The Asian fusionincorporated was perfect. Closed it out with a Strawberry & Cream, which albeit simpler was well done. Drinks: Go for them all.Very creative and they can walk you through tasting notes perfectly. Milk Punch (method; not actually milk; recommend),Strawberry Basil Negroni (strongly recommend; not traditional negroni alcohol forward), Eucalyptus Sour (subtle, calm andcollected; recommend), Corn Star (be adventurous, as the chipotle is super subtle; worth the risk; recommend), Vesper (again, not alcohol forward; recommend). Atmosphere: Cozy and charming, yet the accents are vibrant and energizing. Indoor volume ismedium, and great for a family, cocktail, date or a “i want a nice drink/bite” any day of the week. We were visiting from out of town and went here on a whim. Without hesitation, would recommend to everyone. Delicious beyond... expectation and great local dishes to share. Our server was so wonderful. Effusive, kind, unpretentious, knowledgeable about themenu and gave us great recommendations of places to visit and things to see while we were visiting. People of the world: ifyou're in Halifax, you have to go here. Read more
I was expecting Gnocchi they had put on their menu (one with sweet potato cream with fermented red pepper). They gave something... else with mushrooms and asparagus and didn't inform. This is not what one expects, especially when I went there based on theirstaff recommendation last time just two days ago. Taco was good the first time, but not what you expect when you are paying thatmuch and expecting a good quality meal. Read more
Absolutely wonderful experience end-to-end from Field Guide. This was our second time visiting Field Guide for dinner, and it... was just as good as the first, if not better. We chose bar seats right in front of the open tiny kitchen and enjoyed chattingwith the cooks during service. Everyone - The bartender, the hosts, and the cooks were personable, fun, and attentive. Thedrinks were inventive and well balanced, exactly what I'd expect from an eclectic bar on Queen West in Toronto, but much closerto home. Food came out at a reasonable pace, which considering the size of the kitchen (Three cooks in something smaller thanapartment kitchens I've had before! A single 30" Induction range!) is impressive. I'd say we made a mistake doing 6 of thelarger plates between two people, but we managed to down it all. Everything was well balanced and approachable, with a hugefocus put on texture - Incredibly well thought out from that standpoint. We left completely satisfied and look forward to ournext opportunity to visit. If more places took after Field Guide when it comes to hospitality and care, the world would be abetter place. Props!
