This food is worth the wait! I've been here 3x now and was very pleased each time. Today I ordered the mini box of rice and peas... and brown stew chicken. You can choose veggies instead of rice and then the one meat for $5. I also added fried dumplings andspent a total of $6.42! Worth every pennttttyyy and the wait. I think my server was Ms. Irie today and she was very pleasant.Every one there is pleasant, professional and patient. The customer service alone will keep me coming back! My family and I drove down from PPark tonight to try the Jamaican food at Island Flavors and Tings. It is hands down the best... Jamaican food in the area. We had Jerk Pork, Island Fried Chicken, Brown Stew Chicken and Oxtails with rices and peas, yellowrice, cabbage and plantains. Everything was perfectly seasoned and very flavourful. The portion sizes are large. The staff wasvery nice and the young man on the line helped guide us through the options as it was our first time there. The cashier was veryfriendly. Visited Island Flavors and Tings all the way from Atlanta GA through word of mouth from my mother. Ambiance was great with good... reggae music playing in the background, clean and orderly set up and display and great tasting food. The fried Snapper, Rice andpeas and cabbage was delicious. Update: Today was different. I tried the Taste of Jamaica and it was not fresh. I had oxtail brown stew chicken curry goat and... jerk chicken. Tasted like it was reheated. So flavorful. The sides were cooked just right, not mushed. This says alot about the care that went into cooking the food. The... meats were the best that I have ever had in this county. So flavorful without being overwhelming. Just right. I'm not surewhat days they're open but I was there on Sunday afternoon. To-go only. The wait time is long, not fast food even though it'scafeteria style. They do take cards. Great service, good food. Easily, the best Caribbean spot in St Pete, actually the whole Bay area. Consistency, a good variety,... and a welcoming/friendly atmosphere is what makes this restaurant the top spot. Unlike many places from Brooklyn to Miami,loadsof Americans frequent Island Flavors. Knew when we arrived ten minutes til opening and there was a line at the door this place was definitely what reviews said. They... delivered! Wonderful, friendly staff. Many choices of food. Seasoned perfectly (actually better than other Jamaican restaurantswe?ve been to) the peas and rice had a little kick to them, so flavorful!! Portion size: ginormous. Mango bread was delicious,can?t wait to try the rum cake. Great for vegetarians and meat lovers alike! Wednesday?s are vegetarian/vegan days.
