You get what you see here. Its a bbq joint through and through with a basic menu, that offers delicious food. The corn was the... best we've had. The whole experience was worth the visit. Our server was very friendly and the food was served hot right off thegrill. Definitely would go again. It is cash only. Read more

This place feels like a backyard barbeque where they just kept saying "We've got room for a few more" and kept adding more tree... stumps. Such a cool, friendly vibe, and the food was great. The menu is pretty no frills, but what they do, they do really well. The temp on my husband's medium rare steak was spot on, the lobster cooked perfectly, and everything was tasty. My onlycomplaint was that the corn came out way before the main dishes, and I heard the waiter ask the table next to us if they wantedthe corn with the main dishes, so next time I'll definitely request that. I've heard that it gets very busy. We went around2:30/3 and I was surprised at the amount of people, but we could easily find a spot. You can BYO picnic sides (Big Y across thestreet - get cash back on debit to avoid an ATM fee - and Wendy's for baked potato down the road) and booze (we stopped at asmall spirits shop nearby). Overall an awesome spot and we'll definitely be back! Read more

It is clearly unique. Their catch line of "Put your rump on a stump" is so true as there are far more stumps than chairs for... sitting. Bring your own sides and drinks, but enjoy their main course offerings and desserts. Friendly staff. Great food. Asummer season treat. Read more

Very casual ? ?Put your rump on a Stump? ? outside dining. Bring your own salad, adult beverages. Superb corn, clams,... steamers, and ? oh! ? those lobsters cooked over the open fire. One of the great delights of Madison in the summer. Excellentfriendly service, Magical after dark. Bring cash. No credit cards. Read more

Our favorite BBQ spot under a circus tent or the trees offering shade. You gotta put your rump on a stump, literally. But... there are some plastic chairs if a tree stump is not your cup of tea. Faves are the catfish!, corn on or off the cob! Rib eyesteak! Lobster boiled or roasted! BBQ chicken, mussels, veggie kebob. And my absolute fave, special roasted clams!!!!! It'sBYOB and some bring tablecloths and utensils. We don't. The staff are so sweet. Read more

The place is the place to be! If you like Barbeque. It is not formal at all, but that's ok. The taste of the food makes up for... it. The stumps for chairs could get a little uncomfortable after a while, and I would try not to go on a super humid day. If Ihad make a suggestion, be sure to order the clam special and the corn. I had the catfish as my main dish, it was tasty butneeded a little more spices. I also heard the bbq chicken was very good. The staff all works together which speeds things up abit and they are all friendly. But, to be honest, I think that some of the pricing doesn't reflect the food and experience. Theycould get away with charging a little less and still not suffer because there is virtually no overhead. Read more
