A beautiful modern beach-style coffee shop with a skilled pourover. Compared with urban coffee shops in the Bay Area this is a... cut above. As usual, the key is that a good coffee is fruity, and that is all about technique. They know how to use theirKalita. I also really liked their pastries and atmosphere. If you need to work you can focus. If you need to let your eyeswander, let them. As a result this coffee shop is less refined and more of a cultural representative of the Grover Beachcommunity. Red Bee is an excellent place to get coffee and even have a small gathering. With both indoor and outdoor seating available... there should be plenty of room. I got a dirty, spicy chai and the foam they used was amazing AND thick! They have backgroundmusic at the perfect volume and I also noticed that the music was positive. Stopped by really early and was pleasantly surprised they we?re open. I picked up some coffees and a hot chocolate (the kids... said it the best they ever had), they had a good assortment of pastries and baked goods. The was clean and the staff werefriendly and helpful. Read more
After I asked the barista about vegan bakery options (only a gluten-free chocolate cookie) and whether the mocha flavoring was... vegan (it's not), I ordered an oat milk cappuccino, which she and another barista confirmed was made with oat milk when I pickedit up. Only after I'd taken a seat and a sip did she say sorry, that's actually cow's milk so we'll remake it. Not good forvegans or those with dairy allergies / lactose intolerance. Read more
