I am not writing this review to tell you what to do with your hard-earned money. I am going to share my thoughts and you make... your own decision if you would like to try this place or not. Hands down Peter Luger is one of the best if not the beststeakhouses in NYC. The steak is always cooked to perfection, and it is juicy and delicious. I love Peter Luger burgers. Also, one of the best burgers in town. The patty is so tender that it melts in your mouth. The burger is so good that it is onlyserved with raw onions and truly does not need anything else. That is how the burger is. The French fires are made from realpotatoes. However, one Peter Luger underappreciated item on the menu has to be their lobster. Not only is it price reasonable, but it is cooked perfectly on the grill. For dessert, you cannot go wrong with the apple strudel with homemade whip cream. Read more

Come for lunch, they always have availability during those hours. This place is supposedly the better one compared to Brooklyn,... they're nicer with better service so I've heard. Our server was very nice. But personally, I liked everything but the steak wasmid. Burger 10/10 Lamb chops 10/10 bacon 10/10 Caesar salad 10/10 mousse cake 10/10 Steak for four 7/10 - Once u had moreseasoned steak, and smoked steak, you won't find this steak that great. It's okay, just a plain, expensive, steak. I would tryother steak houses in the city next time. Read more

I came here with my boyfriend for lunch on a weekday. The place was pretty empty so we were able to walk in without a... reservation. The interior decor feels very traditional and old world American. It's fairly quiet inside and the waitstaff aredressed in suits. We ordered the steak for two with a side of bacon and creamed spinach. You are served complimentwrt breadswith butter after you order. The breads were mediocre and the butter was your standard wrapped single serve butter you mightfind at a diner. The bacon is a plate of two thick slices of bacon which were pretty good but the creamed spinach was nothingspecial. The steak for two was the highlight of our meal and smelled heavenly when it came out. The servers even served us ourfirst pieces of steak and we real enjoyed it. We ordered the steak medium rare but I felt it came out a little more on the rawside, which I didn't personally mind. At the end of the meal, the servers bring you golden chocolate coins bearing the PeterLuger's logo with the check. Overall, a very traditional American steakhouse experience with mediocre sides and delicioussteak. Peter Luger's is on the pricier end, all things considered. Read more

I called to make reservations for a friend's birthday dinner on Saturday night. The person on the line was great and also said... they'd give us a dessert on the house for my friends birthday. We arrived on time and waited a couple of minutes by the bar tillwe were seated. We ordered the thick sizzling bacon, steak for 3, lamb chops, onion rings, holy cow hot fudge sundae, andcarrot cake to share. The sizzling bacon and lamb chops were the stars of the show. We ordered our steak medium rare but more onthe rare side. We ended up getting a steak that was more medium/medium well with some parts well done. The steak had a nice charto it but it wasn't tender or juicy which we attributed to it being over cooked. Definitely not acceptable for a Michelin ratedsteakhouse. The lamb was cooked a perfect medium rare and didn't have a gamey taste. The onion rings weren't seasoned and had notaste - a hard pass on these. Dessert wise the holy cow fudge sundae was standard and the carrot cake was your traditionalcarrot cake sans the cream cheese frosting. We ended up getting charged for one of the desserts despite being told it would beon the house - not a big deal. We ended up paying around $420 for 3 people. The service and staff were great, but the steak wasreally disappointing as it wasn't cooked to the right temperature. Read more

Just go elsewhere if you want a great steak dinner. For the price, I was expecting so much better. The sides were fine but the... steak was severely under seasoned and not tender. We had to wait more than 30 minutes for our table despite having areservation. Hype exceeds reality. Read more
