If you have never played the course, the layout is great and challenging. If you don?t have someone with you that has played it,... you will find shot placement difficult on some holes. The carts are nice and comfortable. I play very regularly at most of theareas higher end public courses and have to say this is the worst. Every time I have been here there is nobody to provide rangeballs after paying. The greens are slow, littered with ball marks, and infected with mold so any putt over 4 feet is a guess. It?s no wonder that nobody rathe sand traps because they were full of dirt. No self respecting course let?s people off the backbut That?s exactly what they do. And we were fortunate enough to have a group of six walkers put in front of us. I was told theywere from the league so they were ok. No beverage cart, nobody at the bag drop, the list goes on. I use the price of a course togauge the quality when booking. This should be a $50 course and although I would not play it at that price it would let me knowwhat to expect. Stonewall Orchard has seen better days. Read more

Cart kept saying we were off the cart path, got cart replaced eventually after calling and being hung up on 2x. Course is ok,... not a $100 course for weekends though, especially after a rain, bunkers are trash. Read more

Great course. Every hole is different. You feel like you are in the middle of no where. If you haven't played this course ,it is... must. Staff was very nice. Only bad thing mens bathroom needs a good cleaning. Looks like they have not cleaned in a month. Butstill a 5 star course Read more

Played late yesterday with the wife and three kids. Was one of the best experiences at any public golf course that we had. ... Beautiful course. Great staff and super nice. Thank you to the kind ranger that came around and always had a smile and wavedto us. The kids loved it. Oh, and the ICE water...hit the spot...it was so hot and humid yesterday. Really appreciated. This by far was my favorite course I've played in lake county. Greens were soft and fast. Course was fair but very tough. Very... beautiful course with limited outside noise. Couldn't recommend more, and a rare time the higher cost is worth it. Read more

Nice course but a few things are a bit strange. They nickel and dime you for range balls when you?re paying $100+ per round.... (Pro tip: charge $5 more and give the range balls for free) You cant drive your cart closer than 80 yards or so to most greens. With this, prepared to walk quite a bit. Golf carts have black leather seats so on sunny summer days the seats are scorchinghot. The hot dogs taste like they were boiled in dirty laundry water. Read more

Great course. One of the best for the public. Seems like a private course when you arrive and play. Ranked #3 in Illinois for... top public golf course. You are first introduced to their long drive way. From there, you can drop your bags off to the left andgo park your car where the carts will be ready by the bag drop. Greens are fast and tricky. You will need your A game at thiscourse. A good, challenging course that keeps you involved in all of your shots. Try and get your ball in the fairway becausethe rough is very thick!!! Carts are very comfy with their seats that hug you, GPS that is accurate from the tee to the greenwhich also offers as an electronic scorecard, club and ball washer on the cart. They also provide you with tees if you ever needone and have divot repair tool if you need one as well. The range is awesome, where they use Titleist practice golf balls.Practice green is right behind the range which is accurate to the course greens. They also have a short game facility where youcan work on your 60ish yards and in. Short game facility has 2 green side bunkers as well. The restaurant is also a great placeto dine in when you are hungry. Good variety of foods you can choose from. Overall, this place is a great place to play, practice and dine in. Read more
