Reviews for Akai Hana Sushi & Grill in Goodyear, AZ
Yummy! One of the most extensive sushi menus I've seen. Don't go if you're in a hurry, there's one chef who works there... sometimes who's very methodical and can be a bit slow. But I've never had a bad meal. Ask for Cheyenne to serve you, she's asweetheart and does a great job! Read more
My buddy used to work here and loved it! I have eaten here for years. This is my go to sushi spot. The staff have always been... very friendly, timely, and know the menu well. There are so many rolls to choose from and they even have less common items likefrog legs (super good!) if you're into that. They have even kept their prices realtivley low, even with inflation. My wife and I tried this place for the first time on a Friday night around 8pm! They were a bit understaffed and we waited at... the host table for a while until we were acknowledged. After that, the experience was terrific! We sat at the sushi bar and thesushi chef was very nice and took our orders. The place was super small so I can?t imagine if it was busy. Felt very much like ahole in the wall, good atmosphere and perfect for our date night. Sushi was great and prices were good too. We?ll definitely beback! Read more
It was ok. They were pretty busy with dine in and take out. My food was just shy of 30 min late. Being overwhelmed, one of the... employees was kinda rude at times, and I even saw a couple of guys walk out because of that. Food was somewhere between ok andgood. It reminded me of Japan, but with a Chinese American twist. Not the best but it was good. The inside is kinda cozy andnot to well done. Overall it?s pretty average. It stays busy, so maybe it?s for some people Read more
A little pricey for it being a small place and kind of cluttered but the food did not dissapoint! My bf had spicy miso ramen and... it was lacking miso flavor but the spice was there. I got the Tonkatsu ramen and the noodles were too al dente for my liking Iwould have preferred more cooked but it was overall good still. Read more
I've been wanting to try this place out since we moved out west last year. The menu selection looked promising and the overall... good reviews. Convinced my husband to go with me on his only day off (working extra due to staff shortage, you know...) Firstimpression: We walked in and the place smelled like old grease and stale. (We should have just walked out at this point aftersmelling that) The short heavy set lady sat us (I'm assuming she's the one everybody is talking about being rude) Menu: Therewere so many papers! It took me a while to figure out what's what, but I managed. I didn't even try to navigate the makimenu...... Ordering: It wasn't too much of a problem to get our waitress' attention since we were by the door and she had topass us to go to other tables from the kitchen. I do understand why people would take her as rude. She just has that "tone" inher voice. It took me few minutes to figure out that she's not really being rude, that's just how she talks. She took our orderwithout any problem and got all of what we ordered. Moving on... Food: HOW IS EVERYTHING SO SALTY BUT FLAVORLESS????? I couldn'teat most of what we ordered because it was just too salty for me. And it sucked because I couldn't drink their (tap) water. Wedidn't order any sushi/raw fish after smelling the restaurant. Overall: We weren't impressed by their food at all. It really isdisappointing since I had so much high hope for authentic Japanese food, as I grew up in Japan... but we won't be going back. Read more
This is easily the best Japanese/Sushi restaurant I have ever been to! I've been to at least more than 10 Japanese and Sushi... restaurants in the valley and this tops all of them. I have been here at least more than 30 times and I cannot say I have had abad experience. The food is fantastic and I always find something new to get every time. I have attached some photos of some ofthe best things I've had on the menu. The service here is excellent, I've had the same few waitresses each time and all of themare very nice and polite. They have been able to tolerate me and whoever I'm with while we sit around for 30 minutes talkingabout what we are going to order. They are very attentive and come by often to ask if we need anything or to give refills.Sometimes when the place is packed they get a little behind but it's nothing to worry about. The food on the menu is a bitpricey so be aware of that, you get what you pay for and what you get from Akai Hana is delicious sushi, noodles, curry, etc. Sobe prepared to spend at least 20+. Either way the food is worth it! During happy hour, which is after 4pm I believe food pricesget cheaper so it might be best to come in for dinner which is what I typically do. Overall I specifically made this foodreviewer account just to review Akai Hana, so this should speak for the overall quality of the restaurant. I will easily givethis place a 10/10 no questions asked, will eat again! Read more
My husband and I went here for our 9 year Wedding Anniversary. We went during lunch and it was such amazing experience. The... owners are the sweetest couple and the food was delicious. Best sushi we've had since moving here 2 years ago. My husband wentto Japan for work a few years ago and he even said their sushi was almost as good as the fresh sushi he had in Japan. Lol butwhen the owner told my husband goodbye in Japanese my husband completely forgot how to speak Japanese and was so embarrassedlol. So if the owners see this just know that he wasn't meaning to be rude.???????? Read more
