Immediately walking in the host was welcoming and greeted us right away. She complimented us, and when we left she made sure to... welcome us back. There were also two young boys working as host. They were very well dressed and mature. Our server was verykind, and my boyfriend and I both got a Chicken Tender Basket. The chicken was fresh, high quality, and obviously not frozen. The breading of course was ahhh-mazing! I got a side of ranch, which was soooo good! The gift shop has several little neatthings for Christmas, and was decorated beautifully. The building itself was so neat. Definitely worth making the trip to thissmall town, we will definitely be back! Read more

This place has ah-mazing food. The building is obviously old, but well kept. You feel like you are somewhere like Ma Ingalls... restaurant in Little House on the Prairie or some other restaurant in an old-timey movie. You can feel history all aroundyou. The staff was helpful and friendly. The food was made fresh to order. It was not anything premade that you throw in amicrowave like some chain restaurants do, either. They took time to prepare our food to perfection. My husband commented thathis burger was the best burger he's had in a year. He was even making "yummy food" sounds while eating. Was it a little pricierthan I prefer? Yes. But it is so worth the money. If you are even remotely close, you MUST make this a stop for a fresh,"home-cooked" meal. Read more

The Whistle Stop is a worthwhile trip off I-65 whenever you travel in the Louisville/Elizabethtown region. Their Pot Roast was... TO DIE FOR (see the attached picture). The adjacent antique stores had everything priced in reasonable fashion. I prayeveryone sees this region now, before the new Li-ion battery plant changes everything. Read more

This was our first time back to the Whistle Stop since the change of ownership and the pandemic. Very little if any has... changed when it comes to the appearance of the restaurant. The service was very good. Our server Amanda was polite, prompts andinformative. The food was very good. (This was not the best meal I have ever eaten, but it was better than most country themedchain restaurants) We had the hot brown, country fried steak, out of this world chicken, and country fried chicken. Thedesserts were EXCELLENT. The banana pudding and the sugar creme pie were ????????????????. This is a historic spot and worththe stop. Read more

It was good, not great. I have always loved this place. Tonight, Valentine's day, it wasnt very busy. We were seatted right... away. Our server was quick to take our drink order but was very disorganized. Returned to get our food order. (Forgot ourdrinks. ) Later, I had to ask for our drinks. The fried green tomatoes are good, just a little too thick cut for me . Our foodarived, I got the steak special. The steak was amazing, I was quite pleased with the flavor, even though it was way more donethan a medium, as I ordered, it was still tender and good. They ran out of baked potatoes so I went with the sweet potatofries. The fries were ice cold when they arrived. I took them off my plate and had to finally, about 10 minutes later, flaggeddown my server. I asked she just take it off my bill, as it was a premium upcharge and i was done with my steak. My fiancé hadthe fish dinner. He was very disappointed in the texture and taste of the fish. The server was very inattentive, did not removethe upcharges on our check but, at that point, we waited another ten minutes just to pay so didn't mention the error. I lovelocal ma and pa places and supporting these small dinners. We actually drove an hour to eat there. ( I understand when a serveris busy but by that time she had two tables. ) The owner came by and apologized for the cold fries, which Iappreciate. Hopefully next time the fish isnt as awful, the fries not cold and service improves. Read more

Hands down one of the best places around for some good southern cooking! They've been around for 40+ years and are well known to... locals as a great place to eat. The menu is wonderful and the dishes homemade. There's even a little gift shop/general storeinside for those looking for that souvenir. Read more
