I am completely stuffed after the delicious meal we enjoyed at the freshwater tavern. I got a special dish with something they... called Singapore Potatoes. If you look underneath that egg in my photo there's a huge tower of crispy fried potatoes, veggies,garlic and spices. The free bread and butter boards (3 breads, 1 being gluten free, and 4 butters) were all delicious, as werethe jalapeno poppers. Menu has clear gluten free designations, and our server was very knowledgeable about avoiding allergies. Ialso greatly enjoyed the cocktail I ordered, and the lake view from the main dining hall. We couldn't have asked for a better anniversary dinner. The serving sizes are generous and delicious, what a lovely hidden gem... of eclectic dishes. Julia was a delightful and helpful server and our hostess was great too. Read more

Wow! This place is absolutely incredible! We decided to go here after two days in the car, we wanted to just eat in. The service... was great, the food was outstanding! I was very impressed from the selection and the taste was better than many places we'veeaten that were supposed to be great. We had a great meal at the Freshwater Tavern! They offer a beautiful view of the water just outside the back door.... large... windows across the back of the restaurant display the bay while you dine. The food was delicious and wonderfully prepared. First came a selection of breads and house-made butters. Delicious! Our favorite was the gluten-free cheese bread balls with thecheese-infused butter. Fabulous! We had the jalapeño poppers which were quite flavorful. My wife had the beef barbacoa tacosand I really enjoyed my bison burger with truffle fries! I have to say that these may have been the best truffle fries thatI've ever had....perfectly flavored and not overly oily while being crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Verygood! Ok.... the bartender. Oh, they do a good job! Flavorful, creative cocktails were on the menu... we enjoyed them a lot! Our favorite was the "Life in the UP"....a riff on a mai tai with incredible flavor and beautiful presentation. I also had theMichigan Avenue....a twist on a classic bourbon Old Fashioned with Amaro and allspice....it was tremendous! The "Dream State"was also delicious! Three and a half... (Took a poll of 8 guests) Walleye was soggy and "tasted like a circus doughnut." (The fryer must be... compromised.) (Hopefully the doughnuts don't taste like fish!) The maple trout was very good, just enough maple added to thelight trout. Asparagus was good, redskin potatoes were on par. Street tacos were superb, great eye appeal, lots ofcolor whitefish ???? bun sandwich was "okay" soggy bottom ???? and not a lot of flavor.guest approved of jalapeno Relish, andpickled onions. Rated dish 3.5 star. Korean kalbai beef tenderloin was 4.3 would have been more but got without mushrooms, andwould could have been better with. Jalapeno poppers were super. Very nice, great menu, great drink menu, wine choices look great. Lots of great. Server Melissa was fast and friendly. I had... swordfish with gochujang fettuccine, very good, huge portion! My wife had a filet with baked potato, cooked perfectly, nicesauce, yummy asparagus. Pumpkin bread pudding was delicious for desert. A good time all around, we?ll be back. Read more
