I called with very short notice to arrange a small reception for my mom’s funeral. (As in the day before.) I told the manager,... Mike, that my mom had wanted champagne and watermelon for her reception. “No problem, we can do that.” We arrived after theservice and everything was set up and absolutely perfect. Attended a baby shower here in one of their private rooms and it was perfect. I'm still thinking about the delicious brussel... sprouts and the sauce on the fried shrimp. Looking forward to coming back for dinner! Read more
Very nicely decorated and they create a welcoming feel to the establishment. They have outdoor and indoor seating, best by... reservation. I'm not sure they have any dedicated parking, you will likely have to park on the street. But they are close to thedowntown area and easy to walk to. The appetisers and food were very good. We got the brussel sprouts, queso and guacamole. AndI got the smash burger, which was smaller than I had expected, but very good still. I'd definitely recommend Golden Rule. Read more
Attended a group event with approximately 30 other adults. The appetizers consisted of short ribs, interesting crackers and... cheese spread, and grilled baby Brussel sprouts. I could have made dinner out of the appetizers. They were that good! Nextcame a mixed greens salad with a vinaigrette dressing. I normally don't eat salad but this one was fresh and very tasty. Choicesof entree were: Candied Pecan Chicken Pork Tenderloin Butcher's steak I had the chicken and my wife had the steak. Portionswere generous and were served with skins-on, mashed potatoes. Our party of four met here for dinner on a Wednesday evening recently. I guess our expectations were set too high because we... were all underwhelmed with the food and service. We started with Spicy Pimento Cheese appetizer only because they didn't haveany Salt and Pepper Calamari. It was tasty but not really memorable. I had the Elk Burger and fries. Both were okay but nothingspecial. The fries were soggy. My wife had the Cowboy Tenderloin that was cooked perfectly, but somewhat overpowered with thecoffee ancho rub, sided with goat cheese mashed potatoes and baby carrots. The mashed potatoes stole the show on that plate. Ourguests also had an Elk Burger and Candied Pecan Fried Chicken which also earned high marks. We all felt the portion sizes wereon the small side compared to other similar restaurants in Georgetown and while our server was friendly, she could have beenmore attentive to keeping the small water glasses filled. All in all it was a pleasant experience but not worth a return tripanytime soon. Read more
The food at The Golden Rule was incredible. Our party had the spare ribs, the Carne asada fries, and the Brussel sprouts and all... were incredible appetizers. The Smash burger was damn tasty and the candied pecan fried chicken was a fun spin on a Texasclassic. Finished with the bourbon blondie that puts pazookies elsewhere to shame! They tout a pretty extensive list ofbourbons, but unfortunately when I went almost all of the ones I wanted to try were unavailable. Still they had greatservice. My only critique is make sure you ask about prices for the bourbon. I ordered a pricier pour of bourbon thinking itwas one price, but was charged 50% more. I was so impressed by The Golden Rule. From the decor to the atmosphere to the menu and creative bar offerings - this spot... definitely takes it to the next level as far as dining in Georgetown goes. Everything on the appetizer menu was delicious -loved the deviled eggs and the steak against the grain. I really wish they offered the craft cocktail flight during dinnerservice as it looked really fun to try. I would absolutely recommend making a reservation to make sure you get a table. The onlydownside was the service could have been a little better. Several items that we ordered were forgotten and our waitress was notvery friendly. However, overall I really enjoyed coming here and would love to come back to try brunch. Definitely a greatoption if you're looking to eat somewhere on the square. Read more
WOW. Truly. Start to finish. Great staff, great service. Awesome cocktails. Ask for Katie if you stop in. We stopped in by... accident and will be a regular visitor now.
