I've only heard good things about this place, so my family and I decided to go there the last day of our trip. The waitress... never introduced herself, gave us bud light instead of Busch light (literally a crime in the state of Wisconsin) got the orderwrong, but apart from the bad service, the beef and steak were extremely dry, I actually had to order another drink to help thefood go down, and it was all very bland. The refried beans had the consistency of water, and to top it all off, the waitressmade us wait extremely long to even get the check and we were the only people in there. Small and very casual. Very friendly and the service was very good. The food was really good! For breakfast I recommend the... cinnamon bread french toast. My side of bacon was perfect, very crispy like I requested but not burned. Highly recommend. Read more

Awesome food and great service. My Dad and I hadn't been back to Big River since it had different owners maybe 5 years ago or... so. We decided to give it a try and definitely didnt regret it. Our burgers came out in good time and were very nicely made andseasoned, and we got a pretty good amount of perfectly crispy French fries. We will definitely be returning in the future. Read more

With new owners the restaurant is way better! (Thank you for keeping this gem going ) Historic building, with interesting... history... do some investigating if you dare. ???? Don't listen to the idiots who run the motel next to the restaurant. They have never even ate there, yet they continue to tell... all their guests who stay at the motel the food is terrible and if they eat there they will get sick. Nothing could be fartherfrom the truth. The owners are great, and so is the food! Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. Don't know what the problemis with the owners of the motel, but they have no idea what they are saying, so just ignore them when they talk down about therestaurant! Love the breakfast, it's pretty damm good. I should know, I eat there 3-4 days a week,and have know intentions onstopping! Read more
New Owners!! They kept the name which is why Google reviews are so high. This place is now HORRIBLE. Do not eat here. At 11:45am... we were the only people there. The place stunk like bleach and old food when we walked in. Two other couples did walk in anddecide to walk out. We should have. It took 20 minutes to get chips and salsa and an hour for our food, which was terrible. Iate two bites and was ill the rest of the day. Burnt greasy ground beef. Bland. Canned cheese. Just awful. They forgot to turnthe vent hood on so the entire place filled up with smoke. They opened the doors to let the smoke out and the place wasinstantly full of flies. No AC, it was 90 degrees and we were sweating. I politely tried to ask for an owner and explain to theyoung waitress why I will never be back here again, and her response was "sorry". Read more
