Reviews for Black Market Bistro in Garrett Park, MD
Quite enjoy the setting of this unique restaurant. We are on the porch to get the flavor of passing commuter and freight trains.... Food is very tasty, especially burger (perfectly medium rare) and light, crispy onion rings - yum! Soup was good although I likemy own homemade ones. Peach cobbler was too sweet for me. Wine was generous. Service was top notch and very friendly. Free icecream scoop for our birthday guy. Nice walk down the tracks after. Memorable! Read more
I adore this little place. We can walk to it, there are both healthy and naughty choices on the menu, the food is consistently... good. The staff are polite, kind, welcoming and efficient. The restaurant is in an historic house next to the railway stationin the cute neighbourhood of Garrett Park. Spotlessly clean, it?s a lovely little spot for Sunday Brunch, and lunch or dinnerTuesday through Sunday. Super nice casual dining that feels unique. Loads of people seem to celebrate there and there is areally nice atmosphere thanks to the hard working staff. Read more
Have been coming here off and on for years. Tucked away in a lovely neighborhood adjacent to a MARC commuter station in a house... like structure. Food has always been consistently good. Wait staff also well trained and friendly. On our most recent visit Ienjoyed the burger (pictured) which comes with small side salad and today very thinly sliced Onion rings. Burger was cooked as Iordering it, medium rare. Others enjoy the grain salad, another had shrimp and grits, all were pleased with thechoices. Beverages are coke products, a fair beer selection, heavy on local craft beer and a good wine selection. Didn't seespirits or cocktails offered. (Pictured is Brewer's Art Resurrection Dubbel) We did have desserts - lemon mousse cake and ahazelnut chocolate creation of some kind, people tore into the desserts before I could take a picture. I thought appetizers andmain dishes were better than desserts. Again, very consistent quality of food and good service make this place worth a visit. Read more
If YOU LOVE FOOD, you HAVE TO TRY BLACK MARKET BISTRO! This is an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING FINE DINING RESTAURANT hidden in the... Garrett Park area of Rockville pike. This place has a different vibe altogether. It's not your typical fancy restaurant. Whenyou reach here, you will first notice that it's actually a house that has been converted into a resto. The living room has beentransformed into the main dining hall, and then you have tables spread around various rooms. Nothing like i have seenbefore. Finally the FOOD, in 2 words, BREATHTAKING DELICIOUS! The menu is small, yet, everything on there is an absolute musttry. Its presented beautifully and tastes so good. Just one word of advice. Please dont come here to eat pizza, try the otherthings they have on there. Dont get me wrong, the pizzas are amazing too, but, the other stuff is what you want to tryhere. Must try when you go first - 1. Soup of the day (rotates) 2. Entree of the day (rotates) 3. New orleans style prawns 4.Their french fries (very different than regular fries; much thinner like pasta and done just right!) 5. Hardwood Grilled Salmon/Steak Read more

One of my favorite places that I've been coming to for years. The food is always high quality, delicious, and beautiful. The... staff are lovely as well. The location of this place is stunning and the interior design makes it feel both historic and homey. While we usually come for dinner, the brunch on the weekends is equally as delightful. Read more
What an idyllic magical hidden place to have a relaxing brunch. Hidden in a residential area next to a park and the Garrett Park... train station, it's incredibly charming and historic. The basement of the old house holds the post office. The upstairs has thegreat restaurant with fabulous food. The street in front is closed off for outside seating with plenty of shaded seating. We hada wonderful time with amazing french food. The name has market in it, but there is no market, just a great restaurant. Lots ofinside seating in the in old house also. Lovely! Read more
Talked with two people on the phone before I was able to make a reservation. After that interaction of the person not listening... to the time we had available, I was uncertain if we made a good decision for dinner. Upon walking into the restaurant, the firstperson from the restaurant who met us was not welcoming. Going forward, the waitress was nice and the servers were attentive. The food was okay; we had an appetizer, dinner and drinks. I really wanted to rave about this restaurant experience as so manypeople have done, but I can?t? I won?t be dining here again or recommending it. Quality of food and prices for it can be foundat other destinations. Read more
